International Community Bootblack Red Warrior 

 The International Leather Sir, Leatherboy and Community Bootblack 2010 Contest, held at the Hotel Whitcomb in San Francisco, CA the weekend of July 23-24, was all the evidence needed to prove that the Leather title system is alive and well.

A total of 27 contestants vied for the three above-mentioned titles; 10 for Leather Sir, 10 for Leatherboy and seven for Community Bootblack, and they represented designated regions all over the United States and Canada.

Hugh Russell of the Northwest Region, Seattle, WA, was named Leather Sir with his runner-up being Dan Azevedo of the Gulf Coast Region; Boy Ian of the Eastern Canada Region, Hamilton, was chosen Leatherboy with Boy Scott of the Gulf Coast Region his runner-up; and redwarrior of the Southeast Region being named Community Bootblack with Trooper from the Great Lakes Region, Detroit, as her runner-up.

Honors voted upon by the contestants were bestowed upon Sir John, Golden Whip; Boy Anthony, John Siracusa Award; and Golden Brush to bootblack contestant Scout.

Some 200-plus Leatherfolk crowded the ballroom of the Hotel Whitcomb for the contest which took two days to complete. The show was emceed by Mr. Drummer 1993 Graylin Thornton who's humor was spot-on both days.

ILSbCBB executive producer Mark Frazier noted that there was a 34-percent increase in weekend package sales from last year and that the contest is moving the the Holiday Inn Golden Gate at the top of Van Ness Street next year. This is the same venue that has been used for International Ms Leather the last three years. The ballroom there will hold 500 guests. Added to the ILSb/ICBB board are David Carranza who is the co-owner of Leather Masters in San Jose and Dallas, Rod Wood and Roger Hunt who were past regional Drummer titleholders. Randal Kinnear noted that the ILSbCBB contest will receive its 501 (c)(3) status in the next couple of weeks.

Although it may not have been designed to be that way, Kinnear was the star of the show on Friday night, serving as the auctioneer for the titleholders' travel fund. In the process of raising a good sum of money, Kinnear took numerous flogging lashes and whip lashes from International Leather Sir Raul Mendez. The crowd roared its approval as about $2,000 was raised from the sale of a couple floggers designed by Raul and the lashes Randal received from their use.

The Sir and boy contestants appreared in the jock strap portion and the speech segment of the contest. Each were allotted three minutes for their speeches and a handful utilized the whole time.

The judging panel included ILSb and ICBB founder Mike Zuhl who was the head judge, International Leather Sir 2008 Raul Mendez, Ms San Francisco Leather 1993 Queen Cougar, International Community Bootblack 2008 Jack Pearce, International Mr. Drummer 1991 Woody Bebout, Wet Spot of Seattle, WA play space founder Allena Gobasch, International Leatherboy 2007 Pup Sparky, founding San Francisco editor-in-chief of Drummer Magazine Dr. Jack Fritscher, International Mr. Bootblack 2009 Greg "McG" McDowell and Southwest Leatherboy 2008 Stephen Palaschak. The tally master was past vice-president of the Discipline Corps of Dallas, TX Todd Jones.

On Saturday afternoon the Leather Sir contestants present demos that were open to the public.

The bootblack contestants gave their speeches during the Saturday portion of ther contest. The Leather Sir and Leatherboy contestants presented fantasies based on themes assigned to each region such as rough trade, military and locker room.

Throughout Friday and Saturday there were numerous workshops presented by some of the community's best. Some of these were Old Guard Prorocols, Bootblacking 101, Fisting, Rough Body Play, Edge Play, Food SM, BDSM and Aging, Bondage Bullfight, E-stim, CBT, Singletails andMilitary Leadership Traits and Principles.

There were numerous play parties including the monthly play party hosted by The 15 Association above Mr. S Leathers, one at the SF Citadel and others.

ILSb and ICBB were held during Up Your Alley Fair Weekened which was produced by Folsom Street Events. The Fair was held on Sunday.

The weather up and down the entire west coast was much cooler this July than normal. This may have effected local attendance at some of the events around San Francisco that weekend, but those traveling from other areas went to San Francisco to party, and party they did.

American Brotherhood Weekend

California did well once again at American Brotherhood Weekend (ABW) as Louie Pacheco Saenz won the American Leatherman 2010 title and Mr. San Diego Leather Bryan Teague took home the American Leatherboy 2010 sash on July 17 in Chicago, IL at the Leather Archives and Museum. Threepeats are common for Los Angeles, but they usually involve sports such as the Lakers, UCLA's basketball team and USC's baseball team among others..
There was one other Leatherman contestant, Mr. Iowa Leather Ryan Weidner; no competitor for Bryan Teague and nobody ran for American Leatherwoman. The contest was scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, but was changed to Saturday only.
Karen "Ultra" Crecelius, handled the emcee duties. She was a hit at International Mr. Leather so she was welcomed back to Chicago with open arms.
The judges were American Leatherman 2009 Alex Lindsay, American Leatherwoman 2009 Dakota, Leather Knights vice president from Dallas, TX, American Leatherboy 2009 johnny boy, David Roy, International Ms Leather 1987 Judy Tallwing McCarthey, International Ms Leather 2009 Lamalani, International Ms Olympus Leather 2009 Mistress Simone and Mr. International Rubber 2003 William “Rubberwilli” Schendel. American Leatherman 1997 Jim Raymond was the tally master.
Mr. Missouri Leather 2004 Ron Walters was a big help for the ABW producers and was honored for his effort.
ABW's other activities were held at Touche'.
American Leatherman 2010 Louie Pacheco, is 38 years of age and is of Nicaraguan background but resides in Los Angeles, CA. He was the first runner-up at Mr. LA Leather 2010 and is the current Mr. Christopher Street West Leather. He is the newly-elected president of the Los Angeles Band of Brothers. Pacheco is in retail management and plans to use the title to promote the Leather community and Leather culture within non-kink organizations in which he is involved. He has worked with the Tom of Finland Foundation, No H8 Campaign, AIDS Project LA and the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
American Leatherboy 2010 Brian Teague the also holds the title of Mr. San Diego Leather 2009. He owns his own consulting IT firm that specializes in web design, development and project management. As Mr. San Diego Leather 2009 he restarted the bimonthly Beat and Greet pansexual event which encourages a mixing of those new to the scene and those more experienced to share in percussion play in a safe environment.  He is the founding president of the San Diego Leather boys and is the current webmaster for San Diego Leather Pride and San Diego Leather Realm.  Brian is collared to his Daddy Mike who he has been with for 15 years and their household includes Scooby, a pup collared to Mr. Teague for the past two years.
ABW provided $1,000 each to Vital Bridges of Chicago, a provider of meals, housing and groceries for HIV/AIDS clients; and the Sharon St. Cyr Fund which provides hearing-aids for hearing-impaired individuals and grants for interpreting at Leather community events.
American Brotherhood Weekend will be moved to Columbus Day weekend in 2011, October 7-9. Potential venues in Chicago are under discussion. For more information check out www.americanbrotherhood.com 

Tyler McCormick is IML 2010

Tim Starkey takes IMBB Title 

Mr. Rio Grande Leather Tyler McCormick was named International Mr. Leather 2010 by IML executive producer Chuck Renslow late Sunday night, May 30 at the Congress Theater in Chicago, IL. First runner-up was Mr. San Francisco Leather Lance Holman and first runner-up was Mr. Texas Leather Jack Andrew Duke.

Tim Starkey was tops among five men in the International Mr. Bootblack competition. First runner-up was Digger form Toronto and Steven Hagen from North Carolina. Five men ran for the IMBB title. They shined boots all weekend long in the IML Leather Market, collecting tickets, or votes, with the top vote getter winning the title. Starkey is the resident bootblack at the Boston Ramrod.

McCormick hails from Albuquerque, NM where he works as a case manager for Family Services for people with HIV and Hepatits C. He has presented workshops including the Psychology of Rope Bondage, Risk-Aware Health Precautions for Kinky Folks and How to Play Gimpstyle. McCormick is a transgender FTM and is not the first such to compete at IML. Billy Lane, then of Seattle, WA, finished 10th at IML in 1998.

The emcees were Karen "Ultra" Crecelius and Michael Brandon. 

The judging panel included Laura Antoniou, Shawn Carroll, Demetri Moshoyannis, Chad Neal, Gene Romaine, Daniel Ruester, William Schendel, Robert Valin and Jeffrey Payne. The tally masters were George Brown and Linclon Cacavecchi.

Robert Davis was named International Leather Sir 2004 and Ivan Reyes became International Leatherboy at the Suncoast Resort in St. Petersburg, FL the weekend of October 8-10. Both were from the Mid Atlantic Region. Spencer Cub Jasper was chosen International Community Boot Black from the Great Plains Region and Kelley Wilt was the runner-up. The first runner-up in the Sir category was Dan Azevedo and second runner-up was Michael Aman. The Leatherboy first runner-up was Timm Briggs and second runner-up was Phil Nickerson. The Golden Whip Award, a congeniality honor went to South Central Leather Sir Dan Azevedo.

The Leather Sir and Leatherboy judging panel included Mike Russell, Bay Area Reporter columnist Marcus Hernandez, International Mr. Drummer 1999 Fraser Picard, Titusboy, International Drummer-boy 1999 Woodie Barnes, International Mr. Leather 1979 David Kloss, Sandy "Mama" Reinhardt, Mr. Leatherman Toronto director Peter Kincheloe and Mr. Louisiana Leather 2001 Todd Cole. The tally masters were Jim Raymond and Dale Breunig. The panel of judges for the Boot Black title included Philip Deitch, Ian "Black" Turner, Richie Chameroy and boi gwen hardy. A secret judge, announced at the end of the contest, was International Mr. Leather 2004 Jason Hendrix.

Robert Davis is a member of New Light Metropolitan Community Church in Hagarstown, MD and was a relay service volunteer for the hearing impaired. He volunteers for Brother Help Thyself, Whitman-Walker Clinic, Foods and Friends Network, and the Hospice of Washington County. Robert has participated in the DC AIDS Walk every year since 1992. Boy Ivan has a record of community service with the Whitman-Walker Clinic and Movable Fest of greater Baltimore.

Alan Tunstall from Los Angeles won the International Mr. Boot Black Contest with Spanky taking first runner-up. Alan was sponsored by The Barracks of Cathedral City, CA and Avatar Club of Los Angeles. He has boot blacked for many years and stated that he had done literally thousands of pairs of boots in that time. The eight contestants were presented on stage near the conclusion of the International Mr. Leather 2004 Contest and the winners were announced.

Lori Ellison from Rancho Rio, NM became International Ms Leather on Saturday night, July 17 at Club Joy in Omaha, NE. First runner-up was Joansie from Arlington, VA and second runner-up was Stephanie Locke from North Hollywood, CA. Five women competed. Lori Ellison also won the Sisterhood Award voted on by the contestants.

The emcees were Chicago Hellfire Club president Jon Krongaard and American Leatherwoman 1994 Sarah Humble. The judging panel included International Ms Bootblack 1999 Leslie Anderson, Connie Cox, Painfully Obvious author Robert Davolt, American Leatherwoman 2003 Sheryl Dee, Liquid Courage Tattoo owner Johnna McCreary, Ms Baltimore Eagle 1992 Glenda Rider, Mr. DC Eagle 1984 Al Santora and Iowa Leather activist Tom Winfield. The tally masters were Sharon van Butsel and Carla Peterson.

One of the best Leather/SM/Fetish events of the year has to be The weekend featured the Master Z and slaveboy tony of Dallas, TX became International Master and slave 2004 during South Plains Leather Fest (SPLF) which was held in Dallas, TX the weekend of February 27-29. Three couples competed. The judging panel was made of BDSM educator Catherine Gross, International Puppy and International Puppy Trainer Contest founder and producer boy patrick, International Master 2000 Steve Sampson, Defenders LLC: DC president Master Taino, International Puppy Tim Hamilton, Pierce Ink owner Sharrin Specter and Masters And slaves Together (MAsT) national executive director Master Alex Keppeler.

Andrew Love from Salt Lake City and Sabrae from Alabama, MI were named Ms and Mr. Olympus Leather 2008 at the Chicago Eagle on Sunday night, July 19. About 150 cheered as both winners were named.

Frank Nowicki was busy all weekend as he served as emcee.

International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather will be held in Los Angeles at the Hilton LAX the weekend of August 7-9. The contest will be separate from Pantheon of Leather and will be produced by Dave Rhodes and Mistress Cyan.

THere will be about 27 workshops and demos, a play party, fetish dance and a victory brunch with a keynote speaker. More details will follow. Stay tuned.

Frank "Bug" Buog from Otterstadt, Germany headed an international sweep at the Mr. International Rubber 2005 Contest at the Cell Block in Chicago, IL on Saturday night, November 13 in front of 200 cheering spectators. David McLay from Montreal, Canada was first runner-up and Matthew Grevink from Sydney, Australia was second runner-up. Nine men competed and they came from all over the globe.

The judges were Mr. International Rubber 2003 Rubberwilli (head judge), 1999 Thomas Smith, 2000 Tom Kelly, 2001 Chad McLaughlin and The Leather Journal publisher and editor Dave Rhodes. Khris Frances emceed with his spicy brand of humor which, as usual, took no prisoners.
