Dean - I am Dean Ogren and I have been a Leatherman for over 30 years as part of being blessed to live in Chicago all of my life. I have been in the gay scene in Chicago since I was about 17 years old, and touch into Leather at about 20-21…..drinking age in Illinois was 19 when I was that age, but of course if you were young, and knew people well you got in place before your time. I now am the owner of ABW, Inc. and produce American Brotherhood Weekend along with my fellow producers Karen Ultra and George Hester, and countless other supporters in our Leather community.
Leather activist Mark Frazier is being honored with the Leather Leadership Award at the 27th National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change in Denver, Colorado at the Sheraton Denver Downtown this weekend, February 4–8 Creating Change is produced by the National LGBTQ Task Force.
Creating Change is the premier annual organizing and skills-building event for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and their allies and attracts more than 3,500 people from all over the country every year.

Mid Atlantic Leather Weekend, held at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC January 15-19, had three highlight events, one being Leather Cocktails on Saturday night; the 30th Annual Mr. Mid Atlantic Leather Contest which was won by Daddy David Gerard of Norwalk, Connecticut on Sunday afternoon; and the Reaction Dance on Sunday night.
Leather Cocktails, a huge event featuring great food and open bar is the envy of clubs world-wide. This was the formal event of Mid Atlantic Leather with Leather/BDSM/Fetish/Gear/Uniformfolk dressed to the nines. As guests enter the ballroom they are greeted by a gauntlet
Myths and legends are an integral part of any community. They provide a narrative of information for ideas and/or concepts which communicate important values a community hopes to preserve. We derive an intrinsic joy from a well-crafted story as humans. The result of this exhilaration is the embellishment of facts and information in order to provide a more exciting and memorable narrative. Often these “artistic” flourishes obscure the original intent of the information and the message intended, is lost.
