Southwest Leather Conference feels the woo in Phoenix
Southwest Leather Conference was held January 19-21 at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Phoenix, AZ with almost 500 kinksters in attendance for the the three-day conference that was highlighted by the Dance of Souls hook pull ritual on Sunday afternoon and a brunch keynote address by Mark Frazier. The Southwest Master, slave and Bootblack contest results appears in another article. The weekend saw workshops, dinners, play parties and a terrific hospitality suite centered on kink-spirituality. Leather Archives Mark Steinbrecher Portrait 300637 WebThe Leather Archives & Museum (LA&M) announced today that they have named Matthew Steinbrecher as Curator for the Guest Artist Gallery (GAG) at the museum.

The GAG features prominent and up and coming erotic artists. Previous artists include Justice Howard, Mary Chiodini, Philip Hitchcock, Lochai, John Randle and over a dozen other artists.

Rick Storer, Executive Director of the Leather Archives said "We look forward to his [Matthew Steinbrecher] background and knowledge of erotic art to bring new and different artistic experiences to the GAG Gallery."

Mufasa Ali is Great Lakes Leather Alliance keynote speaker

Great Lakes Leather Alliance (GLLA) announced that Mufasa Ali will serve as the GLLA 2018 keynote speaker. Mufasa Ali, a member of the Leather community for over 20 years and the inaugural Mr. World Leather 2006/2007, is the founder of ONYX, an international club supporting Leathermen of Color and the recipient of the 2013, 2016 and 2017 Pantheon of Leather Large Club of the Year Award. He currently serves as the Chair of the ONYX National Council, and he is the founder and primary facilitator of the People of Color Leather Caucus seminars at IML and Black Beat, Inc. GLLA 2018 will occur September 6-9 in the same Indianapolis, Indiana host hotel as GLLA 2017. Event registration will open January 1.

A memorial for Chuck Renslow was held on Sunday, August 27 at Metro in Chicago. Leatherfolk and friends from all over North America and beyond attended. The Renslow Family hosted its 36th and final White Party celebrating Renslow.

Renee Beckman was best in a field of five contestants in winning the Women's International Leather Legacy 2017 title in Dallas, TX in early August. This was the largest WILL class to date. ONYX: Superiority Complex in San Francisco
ONYX: Superiority Complex is a party for kinky men of color and will be at the Powerhouse in San Francisco on Saturday night, August 26 from 6-9. Special guest of honor and super-supporter of the kinky men's community, International Ms Leather 2017 Girl Complex will be in the house.

Mr. and Ms Alameda County Leather
Mr. and Ms Alameda County Leather are Steve Geist and Jeni Finch who won their titles on Saturday, August 19 the Hayward Veteran's Memorial Hall in Hayward, CA.

Steve, also known as “Ox”, has been a member of the Leather community since 1989, starting with the Fire Keepers of Indiana. He moved west and made his first several hundred cockrings at Image Leather in San Francisco. In 1993, he moved to Sacramento to work Leatherworks and also run his own company.

Minxy Jeni is a newbie queer in chronology but an old soul in Leather. As an acupuncture student, she dipped her toe into the scene six months ago with a class on pressure points and somehow found herself free diving in the depths almost immediately.

Mr. Bear LA
Bears LA hosted the Mr. Bear LA contest on Saturday night, August 19 at the Eagle LA where Art Berkowitz won the title he will compete at Mr. SoCal Bear. Berkowitz was the lone contestant.
The emcees were the team of Don Mike and Jeremy Ronceros and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence gave one of their zany blessing. See photo below.

Tom of Finland was introduced in Stockholm, Sweden through a diverse program August 24-26. In the center of Stockholm almost 300 artists performed during a street party; in addition to music, stand-up comedy, children's theater, circus arts and meetings with writers were seen on stage. Concluding a multi-month search process, an experienced library director and administrator will lead the next chapter of the Leather Archives and Museum. Gary Wasdin received unanimous support of all nine board members present at the Sunday afternoon meeting. He will assume his new position on January 2.

The 15 Association - 38th Anniversary

The 15 Association of San Francisco, CA held its 38th Anniversary the weekend of February 23-25. The main event was an Anniversary Dinner at Patio Español on Friday night where about 150 Leatherfolk from all over the US and even from as far as the United Kingdom attended. What club president Eric See says was the largest silent auction of Leather/BDSM/Fetish gear and toys brought in big bucks. Several awards were presented. The big two Jordy Tackitt-Jones being named an honorary member of Dave Rhodes Hump Day February 28, 2018 and The 15 Association's club colors to Michael Leon who is the co-owner of the SF Eagle. It is with great pride that I am able to announce that the Centaur Motorcycle Club will be making donations to charities that total $100,000. This years charities are: Leather Archives & Museum, Shepherd Wellness, Moveable Feast, HIPS, Rainbow Railroad, The Leather Heart Foundation, Team DC, Black Gifted and Whole, and Brother, Help Thyself. On behalf of the club I want to thank all the clubs who held special events over the weekend, the local bars, the Hyatt and their amazing staff, and all of this years attendees. It was an amazing year and we look forward to MAL 2019. I can't say it enough but a big thank you to my club brothers you are an amazing group of men and I am so proud that you call me brother. Don Thompson passes
Don Thompson, perhaps best known as San Francisco Leather Daddy VIII, passed away on the morning of January 5, 2018 in Cathedral City, CA due to a long time illness. Don studied at Cambridge and Oxford University in the United Kingdom, country of his birth. Professionally, Don was a concert organist and president of Pipe Organ Presentations. Much of Don's Leather community service was as producer of Fetish Balls in San Francisco in the 1980s and 1990s. He was a member of the California Eagles Motorcycle Club. For several years he was co-emcee of the Pantheon of Leather Awards. One proud moment in his early years was as the organist for The Beatles' Mr. Moonlight. Thompson is survived by his husband Henry Jordan. A memorial service is being planned for Don. Los Angeles Puppy Pride
Edward "Pup Rush" Decimus was tops among seven amazing contestants and left MCC in the Valley on Saturday night, November 11 with the los angeles Puppy 2017 title. Pup Apollo was named Alpha-Beta Pup and Pup Wolfy was chosen to be Alpha-Beta runner-up. Friday night's meet and greet was at the Bullet Bar in North Hollywood and the victory party on Sunday was at Eagle LA. International Mr. Olympus Leather 2014-15 Dave Faunce was the emcee. Bon Mike was presented the Legendary Pup Award by LA Puppy producers Dan Lovell and Matthew Mullins. The LA Puppy 2017 judges were International Pup Trainer 2016 Sir Pounder, Alex "Pup Beastly" Cheves from Fort Troff, Erik Escareno, Mr. San Diego Leather 2016 Jay Heimbach, Dave Rhodes from The Leather Journal, Michael "Pup Ryker" Kaplan, West Coast Trainer 2004 Gary Reisch and head judge West Coast Trainer 2004 Pup Figaro. International Olympus Leather winners
International Olympus Leather Weekend saw three winners May 4-6 in San Diego, CA at the Crowne Plaza - San Diego Mission Valley which has a Hawaiian theme. Ben Workman was best of three in becoming International Mr. Olympus Leather 2018, Samsara earned the needed points to become International Ms Olympus Leather as did Raven Darknights in being named International Mx Olympus Leather. Executive producer Vonn Tramel presented the Leather Rhodes Community Service Award to Dennis Beisbier from los angeles. The luau before the contest was beyond amazing and several attendees said it was the best meal they have ever had at a Leather event. Mr. LA Leather title goes to LA Leather Bear

The Mr. los angeles Leather 2018 contest saw Mr. LA Leather Bear Ben Johnson win he Mr. LA Leather 2018 title and the Brotherhood award which was selected by his fellow contestants at the Globe Theater on Saturday night, March 24 in los angeles, CA. First runner-up was Mr. Precinct Leather Spike and second runner-up was Mr. 562 Eagle Leather Pup Yoshi. 11 men have won preliminary titles all over los angeles County and it all comes down to this. The LA Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence gave a rousing blessing. Jeremy Ronceros and Jasun Mark rocked as emcees and Pup Dazzle was amazing in his A Capella rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
