Meet The Contestants IMsL 2014: lynn

VT-TLJ: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization? Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.
L: I am proud to be sponsored by Great Lakes Leather Alliance (GLLA). GLLA has an annual event which is in its 13th year in my hometown of Indianapolis. GLLA brings in national presenters for 36 classes, with the highlight of the event being the Saturday evening finale to our regional leather contest.

VT-TLJ: Tell me about your favorite charity.
L: My favorite charity is the Mr. Friendly Campaign, which aims to dispel the social stigma associated with HIV, while advocating for safer sex practices and STI testing. I believe that stigmas are perpetuated by fear, not by facts. By providing education on STI transmission, we can encourage responsible communication about risks and prevent the division in our community that fear causes.

VT-TLJ: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?
JA: I am sponsored by Blazing Saddles, Liberty Gifts and Titans of the Midwest.

-The Blazing Saddles is the oldest gay bar in the Midwest still owned by its original owner. Robert Eikleberry "Mongo" has wanted to have a Ms competition for many years and no one would commit to running. He got his wish and is prepared to support me with whatever I need. Mongo and his co-owners of the Blazing Saddle have been over the top supportive since day one and I appreciate them very much! Thank you Mongo, Chris and Bryan!
-Liberty Gifts is a locally owned shop that has stepped up to help me with any props I may need. They are super excited to be in my corner.
-Titans of the Midwest is a LGBTQ kink education group that covers 13 states. I am currently the vice president of this group. Their sponsorship includes providing me with mock interviews and speech practice. Their support also includes members working various fundraisers to support my travel fund.

VT: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.

CF: Alameda County Leather Corps (ACLC) is a non-profit organization that promotes educational and charitable activities through social interaction among people with an interest in leather, Levi’s, uniforms, and latex. The club is composed mostly of residents from San Francisco’s East and South Bays. ACLC was founded in 1993 as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) leather corps, and has since donated in excess of $300,000 to charities serving Alameda County. We are proud to state that 100% of the net receipts, raised at our events, go directly to the chosen charities. ACLC’s website is:  http://www.acleather.org/

VT: Power Exchange or SM?

CF:

VT: In 100 words or less, tell me about your answer to number 2.

CF: My preferences, in regards to kink actives, are not confined to limited landscapes. My strength of will is matched by my innate character of fairness. I enjoy drawing people into my world, where they will belong. Being especially sensual and erotic, I enjoy sharing fantasies and indulging fetishes. My keep my sphere safe, in which I explore my deepest, darkest, and most secret desires within S&M, B&D, and Fetish. I am a sadistic top who teaches and tortures partners, to shape them to my perfection. My partners serve and suffer pain, by my stinging touch.

VT: Tell me in your own words how you feel about Service.

CF: I believe in selfless service to the leather community, which I demonstrate when I participate or produce an event and it benefits our leather/bdsm/fetish community, and I view service by all as a vital part of the camaraderie process. We all provide some type of service, whether we think of it as service or not, and I believe there is nothing sexier than when service is offered and provided out of a genuine and deep desire to help and be of service to others.

VT: How does your body react to the scent of worn leather?

CF: The scent of worn leather makes me genuinely a little hot and bothered. My reaction is similar to when I smell a good cigar or pipe tobacco, which is also a strong attraction of mine. Words that come to my mind when I think of the smell include: sexy, powerful and raw. Adding piss play into the mix of worn leather pants totally gets my attention every time!

The basics:
Name: Christy Ford
City, State: San Ramon, CA

I am a co-chair of ACLC’s Education Program, which is held the fourth Monday of the month at the Lighthouse Community Center in Hayward, California.

This year I produced Santa Slave Auction, a yearly event through ACLC where we auction off local community members for charity.

I am a co-producer of Lucky in Leather, a yearly event that raises funds for Tri-City Health Center, California.

CF: (my favorite leather?) My favorite leathers are my cargo pants; I just love all the pockets. I use them to carry around everything from lube to my lipstick.

VT: 100 words about what you will with the IMsL Title.

CF: In my title year I would like to incorporate my biggest interest into my duties, which happens to be art. Specifically, I would like to learn about other leather women’s mediums for their art, whether it be photography, acrylic or oil on canvas, or leatherwork. In my travels, I want to share, document, and highlight female artists within our sisterhood. My goal is to leave behind a living archive of 2013’s female perceptions of sexuality in the leather community. As a photographer myself, I wish to document the women who make our leather events happen, the people whom I spent time with, shared stories, and include both the well-known and unfamiliar of our community.

IMsL XXVII 2013 Contestant Nyx

nyx-imsl-contestant-seattle-wa 2013

VT: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.

N: Yes, my contestant run is sponsored by Washington State Mr/Ms Leather Organization.
www.wsmlo.org
My sponsor organization, WSMLO, hosts the Washington State competition for both the Mr and Ms titles and provides their title holders with guidance but the opportunity to use their year however they choose. I was given support and advice whenever I needed it but also the freedom to make the most of my year. Part of the goal of WSMLO is to of course raise funds for groups within our community who benefit from the raising of funds and awareness such as youth development projects, AIDs support networks and kink education.

VT: Power Exchange or SM?

N: I do not feel that these two things are mutually exclusive of each other, and I tend to enjoy both.

VT: In 100 words or less, tell me about your answer to number 2.

N: Many of my favorite personal scenes included a blending of these two facets of dynamic; and I feel that as part of a healthy power exchange dynamic or scene, SM can be used. One of the best things about the variety of play styles in the kink world is the opportunity to mix and match the Dominant and submissive interests and kinks so as to have a fulfilling interaction between the two.

VT: Tell me in your own words how you feel about Service.

N: Being a service oriented submissive myself, I feel that service is one of the greatest gifts that I can offer to my Dominant partner and to my community. Giving one's time and energy to another is one of the most selfless acts we as humans are capable of and nothing brings me greater fulfillment than seeing my work come to fruition for the benefit of others. Service is one of my favorite parts of the D/s dynamic and I believe one of the greatest strengths our community has - as we work diligently to better and benefit our community.

VT: How does your body react to the scent of worn leather?

N: I especially adore the smell of worn leather; physically I always relax a little while feeling a small surge of excitement at the smell and - if the leather is still warm - sometimes I can get awfully bothered about it. There's just nothing like it!

The basics:

VT: Regular community events that you regularly participate in?

N:  Outwest Leather Night : a monthly social for West & South Seattle leather community to meet up in a low-key setting

N: (my favorite leather?) This is a hard question because I love all of my leathers; probably my ultimately favorite piece is my leather gown because it really is stunning and I love how many different places and events it can be worn to.

VT: 100 words about what you will with the IMsL Title.

washington-state-leather-oragnization-logoN: My year as Washington State Ms Leather has been an amazing one; and I want nothing more than to continue this work on a grander scale, encouraging the newer and smaller groups to work together and helping them strengthen their own resolve to achieve their goals both small and large. It is very important to me that we continue working within and -out of our groups for equal opportunities, rights and treatment. Our greatest strength is each other and fostering a sense of unity is my chief goal as we are all a part of this greater group.

IMsL XXVII 2013 Contestant Youkali Youkali

Youkali Youkali MsLT2013 final

VT: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.

YY: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.
I have two sponsors: HOTF—Heart of the Flag Federation (http://hotfftoronto.com/), membership club that presents Toronto Leather Pride Week and other leather events throughout the year (http://torontoleatherpride.ca/), and Northbound Leather (http://www.northbound.com/), Toronto’s premier makers of leather clothing and dungeon gear. As Ms Leather Toronto 2013, I have represented HOTF at various events (Montreal Gay Pride, Unholy Harvest, Ottawa Leather Pride), promoting the Toronto leather scene and fundraising for the CGLA—Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives. (http://www.clga.ca/).

VT: Power Exchange or SM?

YY: Yes, please!

VT: In 100 words or less, tell me about your answer to number 2.

YY: When I first came into the lifestyle, I thought I would be into SM only within a power exchange relationship. I gradually realized that SM plays an important role in the intense power exchange I crave.

VT: Tell me in your own words how you feel about Service.

YY: I have always enjoyed watching elegant and well-considered Service, but I initially did not think of myself as a service-oriented submissive. I think that is because I had a narrow, “butler style” concept of Service. Through submission, I gradually discovered the pleasures of serving someone with my whole body and soul. And also, at another level, the rewards of serving the leatherdyke community that is precious to my heart.

VT: How does your body react to the scent of worn leather?

YY: I am inspired and aroused by the smell of leather. Even when it is not worn by anyone—for example when I walk through the door of Northbound Leather, it is a turn, on because I can sense the potential of that heady aroma. But there is a special synergy when that leather is worn by someone I love or am attracted to. When I dive my hand between the leather and the skin of my lover, space becomes electric. When my face is pressed down on a flogger that has just been used on me, time telescopes itself. How does my body react? Physically…

The basics:

YY:  Surge! Munch: Toronto’s brunch for Kinky women and trans*people,  Toronto Leather Pride bar nights at the Black Eagle,  Spring Fling (Ottawa, Montreal)

YY: (my favorite leather?) Favorite Leather item in your arsenal of bar/fetish wear: my Harley Davidson's boots.

VT: 100 words about what you will with the IMsL Title.

YY: I love people of leather, and I want to listen to more of their stories, and help them share them. Serving as International Ms Leather would avail me the unique opportunity to greater impact others who share my lust for leather and kink, crave additional education and to help provide a safe haven for newcomers to the community. I would like to serve as International Ms Leather, so that I may proudly represent our community and help educate and facilitate events around something that is one of my great motivations and passions in life.

Meet The Contestants IMsL 2014: Nerine

VT-TLJ: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?
N: In October 2012, I received the Ms San Francisco Leather title, which is an amazing year long public leather community title which is wholeheartedly supporting me in running for IMsL this year. Their website is www.mssfleather.org

VT-TLJ: Tell me about your favorite charity.
N: A bootblack and recently appointed Mr Daddy's Barbershop Leather, Nile, has introduced me to a wonderful charity that is picking up energy and financial backing in San Francisco which will provide mobile showers and lavatory access for our city's homeless population, called LavaMae (www.lavamae.org). He is currently bootblacking in the Castro neighborhood to raise funds for this nonprofit project, which can be followed at http://misterdaddysbarbershopleather.com/. His time, energy, and drive as a bootblack and leatherman are an example of how we can take care of eachother in interconnected ways-that it is important to help people in -and- out of our communities whenever possible, while connecting with our identities as leatherfolk. I find compassion to be a wonderful driving force to sharing our lives positively, and his inspiring work exhibits that.

IMsL XXVII 2013 Contestant Sarha Shaubach

Sarha IMsL 2013

VT: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.

SS: I’m thrilled to say that my IMsL 2013 contestant run is sponsored by The Last Frontier Men’s Club of Alaska; our states ONLY Leather Club! (TLFMC.com) 2013 marks 20 years of connecting Bears, Leather Men, Cowboys, and other masculine Alaskan gay and bisexual men for TLFMC. From my Shitty Sunday Shows to Lemonade 4 Love Stands TLFMC has shown endless support of my efforts to raise awareness of GLBT issues in Alaska. I’m forever indebted to the club for allowing me the chance, during the two years I was Ms Alaska Leather, to live my life out loud and with purpose.

VT: Power Exchange or SM?

SS: Power Exchange?

VT: In 100 words or less, tell me about your answer to number 2.

SS: Is this some sort of trick question? It is hard for me to separate the two because most of my SM work tends to involve the hot foundation of a power exchange. For example, my Johnny wanted to exchange power with me by ordering me to do something extra scary and painful to myself. Did I do it because I am masochist? Or because I grow wet and warm from acquiescing to the orders of my Top? It’s a thin line for me, one that I have been trying to figure out for the last decade.

VT: Tell me in your own words how you feel about Service.

SS: Ten years ago I began to explore Alaska's tiny kink community, at that time I was full of frenzy and lust and wore really ugly red leather hot pants. As the lust wore off I put on a pair of Leather Combat Boots and I found myself in service to something bigger than myself, a community! I have learned that my efforts and endless energy is best spent serving the needs of others. No longer in ugly pants, I now create and hold space for those exploring and learning. I have reaped the biggest rewards, and learned the most about myself, while serving in those boots! Be it raising tens of thousands of dollars for local GLBT organizations, connecting books from The Ms Alaska Leather Lending Library to those just starting out or sharing coffee with friends, Service is YuMmY!

VT: How does your body react to the scent of worn leather?

SS: The smell of worn leather makes my body stiffen up a bit in anticipation. To be close enough to smell it means that my Johhnys' hands are placing his collar on my neck.

The basics:
Name Sarha Shaubach
City, State Meadow Lakes, Alaska
website (if any) www.facebook.com /HappyAK

VT: Regular community events that you regularly participate in?

SS:  Northern Exposure; Alaska’s ONLY BDSM/Leather Convention, Anchorage’s Annual Fetish Ball! 15 years in the making “Where the People are the Show!”,  and Lemonade 4 Love Stands! Happening again June 8th in 6 towns across Alaska during Alaska’s GLBT Pride Fest!

SS: (my favorite leather?) I own a beat up, worn out, black and red leather corset with flames. It was given to me by my Auntie Flanna the night I hosted the first Kink Classes for the Masses. That was 6 years ago and no matter how many fun items I have in my treasure chest I always go back to the first corset I given. It connects me and grounds me, and stuffed when with a pair of old gym socks it makes my 37 year old breast look amazing!

VT: 100 words about what you will with the IMsL Title.

Sarha IMsL TLFMC Logo LJSS: I want to be IMsL 2013! I simply want to travel and explore the Leather Community far and wide, all while being a representation of what Leather women, who aren't from the big cities or connected communities, are like. (We are a different breed I tell ya!) AND of course I want to bring enormous attention to the International Ms Leather title in order to seduce a ridiculous amount of new, and old, Leather women to come to IMsL in 2014. Stay tuned; should I earn the title, I will be video blogging for a year!

VT: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.

MC: I am sponsored by the Great Lakes Leather Alliance whose mission is to build bridges between the Leather, BDSM, D/s, M/s, Fetish, and alternative lifestyle communities. I’ve been a presenter at their annual events for 6 years & am honored to represent my multi-state region as their titleholder and strive to live up to their mission.  http://www.greatlakesleather.org

VT: Power Exchange or SM?

MC: The smart ass answer is “Yes.”  But I will say I answer to both aspects of the lifestyle.

VT: In 100 words or less, tell me about your answer to number 2.

MC: I entered the lifestyle as a collared slave and brought my unique play style to the relationship.  I currently own one collared Leather Pup.  I identify as a Sensual Sadist and Heavy Masochist Bi-sexual Switch depending on who in my Leather family I am playing with I incorporate both Power Exchange and Heavy SM play into my life.  I find joy in service and nurture my play partners and family members.  I am Matriarch and Mother Goddess as well as muppet-like sex toy.  My family accepts my unique blend of sexuality, geekiness, and Power.

VT: Tell me in your own words how you feel about Service.

MC:As human beings we should all serve each other here on this Earth to make a better place.  We serve our own needs by being in touch with the greater good.  It is a joy to serve my family, friends, and community, but real service is what you do when no one is looking.  So there is not shame in serving those who are strangers as well, even if it is just opening a door or asking them to have a pleasant day.

As a Dominant, I nurture the joy in acts of service with those who submit or bottom to me.  I grow into myself as I learn how to accept their service in what capacity they can give, and it is my duty to help them see where their innermost self can find freedom and growth.

As a former slave and as a submissive or bottom to the right Dominant, I find my pleasure in providing the best service I can to that person.  I have learned that I can do that without losing my “self.” And only by being my true authentic self can I actually provide the best service.

As an educator in the lifestyle I hope that by providing my actions as an example to others we can all learn to serve the greater community by bettering ourselves and communicating to each other in a positive manner.  I have made mistakes and learned over the years that it is not selfish to serve ones own needs before others, and that I can accept my true core self and love it.  For honestly, if our own needs aren’t met how can we possibly be able to serve with integrity, honor, and love.

VT: How does your body react to the scent of worn leather?

MC: Squeek.  No seriously, just the thought of my face being near a Dominant boot and rubbing against it like a cat in heat gives me pussy clenches.  By the same token, I am a sensualist and the touch of leather on my body makes me feel like liquid sex.  My fingers ache to stroke and touch and if I happen to be wearing panties at the time they get very wet.  When I am feeling small or having an issue, someone putting their jacket over my shoulders is also comforting.  There is an energy of protection and sensuality that pervades leather since it comes from another living creature.  There is a primal knowledge and response in my body no matter what the circumstances.

contestant-imsl-2013-cherries-jubalieThe basics:
Ms. CherriesJubalie

Chicago, Illinois

(my favorite leather?) You are talking to a woman who has over 322 pairs of shoes and boots.  It is difficult to pick one outfit or pair.  I look cute and sexy in my leather dragon corset dress from Marvelous Mayhem and I pair it with one-of-a-kind iridescent purple and green knee-high 5” heel boots custom made by Skyscraper Heels.   I add the leather boa and I am set to go.  However that is just one facet of my personality.  When I rock out in leather pants and bra with my garter holsters by Skin Graft I feel like a cougar on the prowl.  Hot, sexy, and ready to find the closest dark and dirty alley to have a little something, something.  It honestly depends on my mood.  Do I feel shy and coquettish and submissive, or powerful like the Dark Sex Goddess I am.  Personally, as long as some of it ends up on the floor of my bedroom after the bar…I’m good.

VT: 100 words about what you will with the IMsL Title.

MC: It is an opportunity for me to have the backing of the entire Leather community as I travel the country and internationally to educate people about our lifestyle, and have sex positive outcomes. People should never be ashamed of who they are.  IMsL is a symbol of potential growth and liberation on my journey through leather and life, as well as for those who I meet on that journey.  I expect to be a role model to inspire those who need help in their own journey into their authentic self.

VT: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.

M: My Imsl run is sponsored by Pittsburgh Leather Pride, Inc. PLP was organized to educate the local community about the rich Leather history of the city of Pittsburgh and to choose representatives to add to the legacy of extraordinary leather leaders who's roots reside in our city. PLP organizes the Pittsburgh Leather Pride Weekend every September to showcase the full expression of the LGBTQ community through leather and fetish venues. The weekend is designed also for fellowship and camaraderie.

VT: Power Exchange or SM?

M: Both.

VT: In 100 words or less, tell me about your answer to number 2.

M:I definitely consider myself more a power exchange participant than as an S/M player. While I am a sexual masochist, play and pain are aspects of my life that I can go for long periods without before I miss it. However, my need to serve and to feel owned and dominated are constant. The major appeal for me in play is the chance to feel tangibly within my partner's power. During the rare instances where I Top, the feeling of my partner letting go and trusting me to take care of them is thrilling.

VT: Tell me in your own words how you feel about Service.

M: Service, for me, begins and ends with my Master. Though it is said that a submissive is a reflection and representative of their Owner, this goes a step further for me. How well I've served, whether at home or in the community, is determined entirely by my Master's satisfaction and failure of service is decided by his displeasure. At the end of the day, I serve for his pleasure more than anyone else's.

My service to my Master is in thanks for owning me and trying to make me a better person. My service to my community is in gratitude for the community that helped bring us together and help me learn new ways to serve and discover new aspects of myself that I will bring home to my Master. My service begins and ends with my Master and I wouldn't have it any other way!

VT: How does your body react to the scent of worn leather?

M: My body becomes a puddle of Minion-goo!!  I remember a friend's birthday where another guest and friend of mine wore an ankle-length leather coat with a leather belt tie. I spent most of the evening 'casually' following around behind him hoping to catch the scent of his coat in the bar. Later, when we went out to dinner, he finally handed me his belt tie, in sympathy. I spent the rest of the evening intermittently smelling it. That is my strongest overall memory of that party!!

The basics:
Name: Minion
City, State: Pittsburgh, PA

VT: Regular community events that you regularly participate in?

M: Three Rivers Leather Club Meetings; MAsT-Pittsburgh Meetings;

M: (my favorite leather?) My leather cuff. It's my favorite because it was my first gifted piece of leather. It was given to me by my big Sister Doc, American Leatherwoman 2012.

VT: 100 words about what you will with the IMsL Title.

M:Recently, I’ve realized that I’m in a unique position of flux, being new enough to vividly remember the awe-inspiring scope of our community while also realizing how far I’ve come from that place of fear and self-doubt. This perspective has helped me in bringing together potential students with compassionate potential teachers and mentors. This is a trend I would like to continue on a larger scale as International Miss Leather. The chance to bring together knowledgeable insight and experienced with fresh eyes and abundant energy is the driving force behind my run and a dream I hold dear.

VT: Is your contestant run sponsored by an Event, bar, club, organization?  Please tell me about your Sponsor(feel free to include a copy of their logo and a url to their website) and your involvement with them in 100 words or less.

M: I am very fortunate to have nine sponsors. Over the last year, as Mid Atlantic Leather Woman 2012, I have had the pleasure of working with all of these organizations.

a) FIST:  b) Hooker & boys  c) Mr SECC Contest  d) Jersey Amazons e) MAsT Laurel Women  f) LVgoL g) Diamonz Bar and Grill  h) Dragonslair Productions  i) The Leatherman NYC

VT: Power Exchange or SM?

M: Both.

VT: In 100 words or less, tell me about your answer to number 2.

M: I am both a leather lifestyle Dominant and a player. I live the leather lifestyle 24/7 as the Head of my Household consisting of one female submissive/partner, one female slave, and two submissive women in my service part-time. I also have been a player in the Baltimore/DC community for quite some time. My favorite SM activities include rough body play, knife play and flogging. When I mix power exchange and SM together….pure ecstasy

VT: Tell me in your own words how you feel about Service.

M: I feel that service is only surpassed by hot sex/play as the major characteristic of the Leather Community. Service can be given to an individual, group and/or community and service can be received by an individual, group, and/or community. I have been incredibly fortunate to receive service from some dynamic individuals and I am honored to serve my groups (FIST, Mid Atlantic Title Family) and communities (leather, womens) in the best way I can.

VT: How does your body react to the scent of worn leather?

M: My whole body purrs. Twenty years ago, my sexuality exploded open by the feel, smell, and sight of my first leather jacket gifted by my first leatherdyke lover. It has been a slow and steady process of growing into that jacket. Today, I walk taller, prouder, and more confident when I smell my own leather. When I wear my leather, I know I am strong and sexy. When I smell someone else’s leather, something primal happens inside me and I am ready for prey…um, I mean play!

VT: 100 words about what you will with the IMsL Title.

M: If fortunate enough to be chosen the next IMsL, I will suit up and show up consistently throughout my title year to support international, national and regional leather events and have a kick ass time doing it! I plan to continue travelling to smaller cities and events to support and facilitate leather women sharing ideas and expertise with one another. As IMsL, I believe I will draw larger crowds and be able to better promote my platform of creating places and spaces for leatherwomen to just “be”. It is truly amazing what hotness, brilliance and magic comes from putting our efforts together
