Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District - LeatherWalk

The Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District will present LeatherWalk 2023, San Francisco’s annual celebratory march through SOMA stopping at favorite spots for entertainment and beverages. The event creates Leather/fetish community and visibility while kicking off Leather Week. Participants can opt to fundraise and compete for the Kinky Boot Award. All are welcome to walk whether fundraising or not.

The Walk starts at City Hall (Polk Street), September 17 at 11. Senator Scott Weiner and Supervisor Dorsey will speak during opening remarks. At the Ringold Leather History Alley, The Sisters will conduct a Blessing of the Leathers. A Leather Pride Flag raising ends the walk at the SF Eagle Bar’s Leather Pride Festival.

Donations benefit the District’s work keeping SOMA kinky and queer, by supporting fetish art, artists, performers, makers, events, murals, and more.

Up Your Alley - Dore Alley - regardless, it's fun in the sun

Photo supplied by Lance Holman

San Francisco's Folsom Street Events produced another fantastic Up Your Alley street fair centered around the Dore Alley and Folsom Street intersection environs on Sunday, July 30. It was sunny and most of the usual suspectes vendeed. The Up Your Alley fair only lasts seven hours on the last Sunday of July, but there are so many events surrounding the Fair that one could be up almost the whole time and not get any sleep. Here's what we were told

The Leather and LGBTQ Cultural District commissioned prominent queer artist Serge Gay, Jr., to paint a mural on the Heron Street wall of renowned Leather and gear supplier Mr. S Leather. Located at the corner of 8th Street, the mural depicts a playful human puppy surrounded by images that fit the Mr. S brand. A public dedication of the mural will be held on Thursday, July 27. Leather Archives remodeling entrance

By Gary Wasdin

As most of you know, our Chicago home was a former synagogue built in the mid-1950's. We love it, but like all of us approaching 70, there's some wear and tear!

Our front doors have reached the end of the road and must be replaced very soon, and we want to use the opportunity to truly open up the entrance to be more welcoming. The new entrance will feature nine-foot etched glass doors that open up the space to the neighborhood. We want an entryway that reflects the pride we take in the historical and cultural history that is held here, and just as importantly keeps the building safe and secure.

We can't do it without you. We need to raise $12,000 over the next six weeks (beginning of August through mid-September) and we'd be grateful for your help.

Everyone who donates at the $150 level and higher will become a part of our new Friends of LA&M group, founded by Peter Fiske and Jim Neuman. You'll get a beautiful new pin to show your support. Give at the $250 level and higher and you'll also be entered into a raffle for some really amazing thank-you gifts. Donations in any amount are graciously welcomed, and all gifts will be acknowledged on our site to show our appreciation for your support.

There are three easy ways to give: click the button below to give online with a credit card; give through Venmo to our account @LeatherArchives or snail mail your check to Leather Archives & Museum, 6418 North Greenview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60626. Oh, and yopu can donate through their web site at

Falcon North survives arson attack

The Falcon North bar in Long Beach survived a serial arson attack just after 5 AM on Sunday, July 23. A suspect on a bicycle was videotaped tossing a burning object under the wall into the patio of Falcon North, located at 2020 East Artesia Blvd. The Long Beach Fire Department appeared on the scene quickly and doused the flames before they burn the main structure. An arsonist was working the area by setting small fires in nearby areas. Bar owner Michael Barber was grateful to the LBFD and its immediate and successful response. The bar might not have been attacked as a hate crime.

Many years ago, the beer and wine bar was known as Mike's Corral which later became Pistons, circa 2005 new owners took over and had a full liquor license with some remodeling. The current owners did a major renovation and reopened it as Eagle 562. The main Leather theme was lessened when it was reintroduced as Falcon North. Barber also owns businesses in the gay area of Long Beach with one bar named The Falcon.

Falcon North was fully operational in early August in time for Long Beach LGBTQ Pride. Photo above is bartender David captured from Falcon North web site.

WOLF's 20th Anniversary

By Karen Matroni

WOLF s (Women of Leather Florida) 20th Anniversary Weekend is being held on August 25-27 and will start with a WOLF Pack incursion at The Eagle Wilton Manors on Friday night. Saturday is a day of classes on tea service and other surprise topics. After a disco nap, the event will continue at the local dungeon, The Space, for a play party for WOLF members and their partners, regardless of gender. To close out the weekend of festivities, WOLF will be hosting an al fresco brunch at a locally owned and operated restaurant.

When attending a Leather/BDSM/kink event where the WOLF Pack is present, you will sometimes hear a lone howl go up and it is immediately joined by dozens of voices, howling in Pack solidarity. If you have never had the chance to experience this, come down to Florida and howl with the WOLF Pack! Ahh-woooooo.

Leather History Preservation Weekend

By Tori Jones

Leather History Preservation Weekend is a three-day event , November 2-4 in Atlanta, GA, dedicated to sharing the diverse voices and experiences of Leather, and the tradition of sharing our oral histories with one another. We make items of historical value - books, photographs, recordings - available for conference participants to make these personal histories more immediate and real.

LHPW is not like any other Leather event. LHPW is not about teaching people how to do SM, run groups, or further their relationship dynamic. This weekend brings Leatherfolk of all identities, and orientations together to share their experiences – their trials, triumphs, and tragedies, feelings, and opinions, to tell their personal stories. Learn where today’s Leather came from, to make wiser decision about where we will take Leather tomorrow.

LHPW is for anyone curious about, or new to Leather, seasoned Leatherfolk, and others who wish to learn more about living a Leather lifestyle.

Long Island Ravens host Ride LI 23

From Empire City MC's Rumblings newsletter

Ride LI 23 was the theme for the weekend-long riding tour of the North Shore of Long Island led by Michael C of the Long Island Ravens. We began at the Jericho Commons and
made our way through Cold Spring Harbor, Smithtown, St James, Port Jefferson, Rocky Point, Calverton, Riverhead, Shinnecock, and finished in Southampton for private pool party and dinner BBQ.

The ride through all these towns, reminiscent of New England villages with views of the Long Island Sound was great fun, and our lunch stop at the Tara Inn in Port Jefferson coincided almost perfectly with the rainstorm that passed over.

We made a stop at the Grumman Memorial in Calverton to see the jets on display there on the way to Southampton to the home and pool of Rusty, another member of the Long Island Ravens, who was hosting a few friends and members. The pool was a welcome relief from the heat of the day and set up to enjoy the drinks and BBQ that followed.

For the ride back from Southampton, we took the Ferry to Shelter Island and rode the town to the ferry on the other side. We stopped for some really decadent donuts at the North Fork Donut Co. before we made our way home.

This is the second LI Ravens initiated Motorcycle Event with Empire City MC, the first one was 2022.

Gerry Roberts passes in August

By Joe Pessa

After several months of hospitalization, Gerry Roberts passed on due to complications from some long term health issues on the morning of August 11 in Mountain View, CA.

The Bare Chest Calendar invites you to join our brothers and other members of the community for a Celebration of Life for Gerry Roberts, organized by Audrey Joseph at the SF Eagle on Saturday, October 7, starting at 2 PM.
Jerry was one of our most influential Den Daddies and managed the Calendar for Teams 1990 - 2001. Under his watch, The Calendar picked up major corporate sponsors, started selling Calendars in the Castro and at street fairs, and took the show on the road with trips to Sacramento and Palm Springs. The local event season today looks very much the way it did when Jerry retired as Den Daddy 20+ years ago.

He proudly wore his unique SF Eagle vest proudly at numerous events in the Bay Area and in places he visited.

Jerry remained involved with the organization through the years and was generous with his time and support. He was a regular at BCC events and hosted new teams at his beautiful home in Rancho Mirage for many years. He also held a special event on Palm Springs Pride weekend to celebrate each team and the history of the organization.

One of the last public events that Jerry attended was the Team 2023 check presentation. He remained engaged with things happening in BCC-land after that and enjoyed the many sneak peaks and behind the scenes photos of Team 2024 shared with him by the current leadership. He was able to see the 2024 Calendar before he passed and was very happy with how it turned out. He loved the focus on our history and marveled at how this little project that he had such a hand in has grown and thrived for 40 years.

Jerry will be missed greatly by all of us who knew and loved him. Let s celebrate the amazing man that he was with our happy memories.

Clint Yeager

By Charlie Matula

Clint Yeager died on Tuesday evening, August 15 after he developed an abscess in his lung that was making it difficult for him to breathe. The surgery was to drain that. The surgery was going well and the doctors were about to close when his heart stopped.

Clint Yeager was an employee at Eagle LA for 13 of his 53 years. He was a unique beacon of light that touched the hearts of everyone he met, whether it be someone he was serving a drink to for the first time, or having known them for years. He was an important part of the Eagle LA family, and personally as well. He was also a legend in his own right with a everlasting impression on our community through his music, laughter, quick wit jokes, or just a simple, Helloooooo.... As I like to say, friends come and go, but family is forever, and legends never die. He was born in Texas. His spirit will live on! Cheers.

Clint was in several bands, SOUR, Speed Queen, Cycle Nova, and most recent GayC/DC, the Gay AC/DC cover band which has been currently touring the US. He touched the hearts of everyone he knew. He will be dearly missed by many.
