It is a weekend filled with great energy and camaraderie which surround the three title contests that comprise ABW and the American Leather family. Plans are to hold the next American Brotherhood Weekend in the middle of July next year. We have pored through our files and a couple other places to share these photos with you. Scroll down to see.

Tom of Finland - 25th Art & Culture Festival

The Tom of Finland Foundation announced its 25th Art & Culture Festival: Plugged In will be hosted on a custom website the weekend of December 11-13. The Festival is one of the key public events the Foundation does each year and 2020 is also the 36th Anniversary of Tom of Finland Foundation (ToFF), a Los Angeles-based organization founded by Tom of Finland and Durk Dehner. 2020 is also Tom's 100th birthday. ToFF’s mission is to protect, preserve and promote erotic art. The Foundation is located in Echo Park, in TOM House, a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. This digital Festival aims to support artists by providing them an avenue to present and sell their works. The Festival will feature artist booths and virtual events throughout the weekend. Attendees can connect with artists, see performances, watch video installations, draw, and listen to panel discussions. Most of the 25th Art & Culture Festival is free and open to the public; donations to the Foundation gratefully accepted during this difficult time and ToFF members get early access. Mark Hunker wanted to "preserve the name and history" of the Leather community's longtime fixture

By John Riley for Metro Weekly

Mark Hunker, the co-owner of the 18th & U Duplex Diner, has purchased the legal rights to the name, trademark, logo, and other intellectual property belonging to the DC Eagle, which closed its doors in May following alleged mismanagement. According to a filing from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia, Hunker purchased the name and trademark rights for $32,800 as part of an auction, authorized by the court and facilitated by Rasmus Auctions. Hunker, who also owns the DC restaurant Red, White & Basil and Rehoboth Beach restaurants Eden and Jam Bistro, was one of...

Allena Gobasch

On Nov. 26 the world lost one of the most influential sexual freedom activists to ever take on that challenge, Allena Gabosch, after a hard fought cancer battle. She founded the Seattle Sex Positive Community Center and the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. She was mom to many whose own families had reject them. She was a big advocate for polyamory, and we met and became fast friends when we both served as board members for National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. We were born a month apart, and she shared a birthday with my daughter and granddaughter. I so wish I had been able to travel to see her in Seattle earlier this year, but COVID made that a bad idea for sixty something me and cancer fighting her. This pic was taken in April 2017, the last time I saw her before she spent a couple of years in Europe. Allena, I hope wherever you are now that you are being your best, most naughty self and that you are shaking things up like the mover and shaker I was lucky enough to know and call friend.

15th Annual Leather Masked Ball

The 15th Annual Leather Masked Ball was held Friday November 27th at Eagle Wilton Manors, FL. The socially distanced event raised over $7,000 for Lambda Men’s Brotherhood’s History Series project which seeks to develop and distribute LGBTQ history courses to grade school and high school students in the US. According to Rich Rodriguez, Lambda’s President “it was a work of love and perseverance that we were able to hold The Leather Masked Ball this year. And it paid off with a great group of leather and fetish clad guests having a good time while respecting social distancing. I couldn’t be prouder of our community. And a big thank you to Eagle Wilton Manors for standing by us." Anyone interested in more information on the History Series or to donate can go to the following link

20 Black Leatherwomen by Carmelle La Sirena

By Carmelle La Sirena Photography for the Advocate

Carmelle La Sirena continues her photographic series of Leatherwomen focusing on the powerful images of black women. As a photographer in the leather lifestyle and Leather community, I am blessed with also getting to have in-depth conversations with a wide variety of individuals. I hear the stories about their life, their favorite fetishes, how they love to play, and more. But often, this also includes stories of difficulties they have faced, and deeply personal moments that have changed their lives. There are times I learn new things about various aspects of leather history that are often overlooked. In the '70s and '80s, there was a large group of people of color that had their own leather/BDSM/kink "world" in Queens, New York. They decided to take their knowledge, personal and sexual power into their own hands, and create their own...

Angel City Emergency Fund

The Angel City Emergency Fund was started by The FoundNation after postponing the 2020 Los Angeles Ms/Mx/Bootblack contests. ACE offers micro-grants to those affected by economic hardship due to the COVID-19 containment measures. Anyone in the Leather/Kink/Fetish community in LA and the surrounding counties can apply for expenses related to immediate need. ACE is actively seeking to partner with other community entities to signal boost, identify those in need and maximize the effectiveness of this effort. “Time to set aside differences and come together and do what we do best in times of crisis.” said Scarlett Sin, Chair of The FoundNation. Golden Gate Guards

By Jack Goodall, President, Golden Gate Guards

As we approach GGG's 34th Anniversary, I'd like to give everyone an update on club activities. As you all know, due to Covid 19 we are limited in our ability to host fundraisers and social events. However, the club is healthy and strong; and we have some creative online events which we hope to announce after the new year.  The Golden Gate Guards will continue to support and stand in solidarity with the community.  Although we can’t be together this year, we want to thank everyone for supporting us throughout the years helping us get to our 34th Anniversary. As we remain strong as one, we will be together again in 2021. Originally founded in 1976 as the Imperial Guards of San Francisco, the club served as an unofficial liaison between the Imperial Courts and the Leather-Levi's community.

SF LDG presents You're A Star!

The San Francisco Leathermen's Discussion will present You're A Star! on Saturday, December 19 from 4-6 PM. In lieu of an in person holiday party this year, LDG invites you to a special online festive celebration of BDSM where you provide the entertainment. It could be a performance of any kind, a demonstration, your Christmas message to the community or a simple show and tell of something appropriate. There are only four rules: Make it festive, Make it kinky, No genitalia on display and Tits out is encouraged. No longer than 10 minutes. Tell a short, kinky story in a Santa hat, spank a sub until they finish singing Jingle Bells, express your visually sadistic side by showing everyone your ugliest Christmas sweater, whatever you like as long as it follows the above rules (and obviously is safe sane and consensual). Prizes will be awarded for the most Christmassy / Hanukkahry performance, the kinkiest performance and the performance that elicits the biggest groan, either from the audience or a co-performer. To make this work, we ask you to email us to let us know you would like to be part of the entertainment for this celebration. Simply E-mail This email address is being protected from spambots.
