Inside Leather History; A Fireside Chat held its first Chat in Dublin, Ireland January 28 during Leather Pride Dublin. Months of planning with Geared Ireland lead up to the Chat with Ireland's own Karl Hayden. Hayden, a long-time Irish community community activist and Leatherman, spoke with Chat host Douglas O'Keeffe for more than an hour. Hayden delighted the crowd with details about his work in the passage of Ireland's gay marriage referendum, and he brought the AIDS crisis home when he spoke of desperately educating men about safer sex practices. When Hayden heart breakingly spoke about stepping up to cleanse bodies for burial, when undertakers refused to handle the remains of deceased AIDS patients, sniffles echoed in the crowd. Filmed for historical preservation the Chat will be housed in the Irish LGBTQ archives as well as within the LA&M. Lady Dawn Marie Lambert - February 3, 2018
Lady Dawn Marie Lambert passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday, February 3, 2018 in or near St. Louis, MO. In her 20's she was a working cowboy on the professional rodeo circuit. She came out in Leather and as a transgender woman around 1960 when she was in her 30's. Dressed in her full Leather she has participated in all St. Louis PRIDE celebrations since 1985. She was chosen as Ms. Missouri Leather in 1977. Her club, Blue Max Motorcycle Club, honored her with the Golden Eagle Award for Lifetime Service. In September of 2005 the St. Louis Boys of Leather made her an honorary member and an associate member of other Boy chapters from around the country. The Committee (St. Louis’s SM educational program) along with other Leather organizations and individuals further recognized her contributions and our love for her as our “Lady In Leather” with a surprise party on her 70th Birthday. The Arizona Bootblack Academy exists to provide a well rounded education in the art of bootblacking to all who express an interest in learning. Classes in technique are offered on a weekly basis, with field trips held occasionally. In addition to educational opportunities, students are provided the opportunity to give back to their communities in various ways. Southland Honors in June
The Southland Honors Dinner will be held on Saturday night, June 23 at Taix in the Echo Park district of Los Angeles, CA. The Southland Honors Dinner was planned to be during Leather HEAT on April 27, but that event was canceled by its producers. Southland Honors is owned by the Los Angeles Leather Coalition with its first Honors being held in 2004. This will be a single event and will be a formal banquet. How you can include your information on Dave Rhodes' Hump Day

If you come up with a date and basic information on a new event, please send us the date and a short detail or two. This is designed for the web site and less so for print, so there is no 45 days-in-advance deadline. If your event is happening on November 15, make sure I have it by Monday afternoon, November 6.

Things to send:
1. Short article of about 90 words. So what if you are a few over. Just don't turn it into a Russian novel.

2. Photo or two. Landscape preferred. Must be a jpg. Taken with cellphone is fine. Please supply photo credit.

3. Link to a working site. Web site is preferential, Facebook still works.

4. Five "W's" - Who, what, when, why and where. All are important.

5. Please be concise. In news, verbosity is not a virtue; it is an editor's nightmare.
