Eagle LA GoFundMe benefit

By Charlie Matula

Since 2006, Eagle LA has prided itself on being a safe haven for the LGBTQI+ Community to come together and express it's diversity free from judgment, as well as an open door policy, neighborhood-gathering place. This historic location has been serving the community for over 53 years with four different incarnations: The Shed, The Outcast, Gauntlet II, and now Eagle LA.

When COVID hit in March and closed our doors, we hunkered down and did everything possible to stay in business. Surviving this devastating financial hardship has been extremely difficult. Although we did receive relief loans at the beginning of the pandemic, we never expected the forced closures to go on this long. Those funds are now running out, and the currently proposed COVID relief bill for small business does not go nearly far enough to help the mostly impacted restaurant and bar industry. We have lost too many historic venues resulting from this pandemic already, which is changing the face of our community.
This is why we are asking for your help to keep Eagle LA from closing permanently.

All money raised will pay incurred expenses, business loans, utilities and so on.
With your support, we'll be able to continue to ride this out until we can safely reopen in what is expected to be months from now. As of press, the Eagle LA fund has passed one-third of its goal. Let's keep the pedal to the metal.

IML and IMBB sets official date

The first half of November will be a fun time for those who can spend two weekends on a trip. The Mr. International Rubber 2021 contest will be held the weekend before. This move might bring a huge European contingent as many Europeans attend both events. For them, this will be one trip and only one airfare.

By Phillip Zonkel for Q Voice News

The Leather bar recently left its Silver Lake location, and co-owner Ruby De Fresno is scouting for a new home for the landmark gay space.

De Fresno is negotiating a new lease, possibly in Silver Lake, she said.

“We want to keep it going,” she said. “I’m very excited to keep the legacy of Faultline alive. Preserving this historic bar has always been close to my heart."

Faultline has been closed since March due to COVID-19 and mandatory Los Angeles County health orders that closed bars and clubs. The virus has wreaked financial havoc on LGBTQ spaces, several bars and clubs have closed and others have created GoFundMe pages to stay afloat until... Story continues at

Kink Education Is an Ethical Obligation

How mental health clinicians must shift our own systems to be more inclusive

By Elyssa Helfer LMFT for Psychology Today

The inclination for people to understand the unknown is often fueled by an immense inability to tolerate discomfort. If we look back throughout history, when folks have been presented with unfamiliar concepts, desires, or identities, there are a few ways in which they have typically responded. The first group is a subset of people who see differences and acknowledge their existence but let them continue to exist in the world without much of an opinion, understanding that those differences have little to no impact on their own lives. They do not approach these individuals with judgment; rather, they continue to live in a space of neutrality.

We then have people who attempt to understand differences, who value and embrace the beauty...

Ottawa Knights still active

The Ottawa Knights Leather and Denim Social Club has over 45 years of History in the Ottawa and Leather Communities. They host monthly Fetish/Kink-themed Leather nights to fundraising for local groups to running the Ottawa Leather Fetish Weekend and Competitions for more than 25 years in the Canadian capital. The Knights are active in Leather throughout the region and other countries. When the Ottawa Knights began in 1975, homosexuality had only just been decriminalized in Canada, and simply being gay was enough to cost you your job. The club was, out of necessity, a secretive and private affair. A lot has changed in over the years. Today, gender, sexuality, and kink are not the taboo subjects that they once were. Members can be open and proud of their association.

The Folsom Street Fair has been the go-to event on the west coast, IML or CLAW in the center of the country and Mid Atlantic Leather on the east coast. Many from around the USA when asked if they could only travel to three events in a year, it inevitably comes down to these four, Going on 21, CLAW is the new kid on the block. Close to half a century, Mid Atlantic is probably the oldest fly-to-and-stay-in-an-upscale-hotel Leather event. Of course, the grand daddy of them all is the Badger Flat run presented by the Satyrs Motorcycle Club and is held near Yosemite National Park and north of Fresno, CA.

Fundraising in the 1990's

SMMILE presents a check in the amount of $165,000 to charities from funds raised during the Dore Alley and Folsom Street Fairs in 1998

Motor Sport Amsterdam - 25th Anniversary

The ECMC (European Council of Motorcycle Clubs) held their continental annual AGM during Motorsport Amsterdam's 25th Anniversary in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in October 1995. IML 1993 Henri ten Have, from Arnhem, NL, brought a huge chunk of the American and Canadian Leather communities across the pond and what an event it was. This was my only trip to Europe and I brought back some sizzling hot photos from my 13-day visit. They will be the Flash Back Gallery in the next Hump Day, but here is a teaser for now.
