Folsom Street East XXII, with the theme SLUTS Fantasies Fulfilled, was held June 21-23 in New York, NY. Folsom Street East may be foreshadowed by the coming Stonewall 50 celebration which is expected to draw as many as 5,000,000 LGBTfolk this weekend, but it was huge and as successful as usual with estimates of double last year's attendance. IML 1974 Jeff Tucker and IML 2019 Jack were there. The street fair covered 27th Street between 10th and 11th Streets. Two huge stages, one at each end of the fair, pounded music out by DJs Chauncy Dandridge, Lorant and J Clef. The main event was the Folsom Street East XXII all day Sunday. many vendor tents went the length of the Fair featuring businesses clubs and organizations including Empire City Motorcycle Club. Pantheon of Leather Nominations are due by Sunday
The schedule for the process of selecting the approximate 30 Pantheon of Leather Awards which will be held on Thursday, August 29 at the Crowne Plaza Market Square Dallas at 6:30 PM in Dallas, TX closes on Sunday, June 30.
Nominations closed on June 30; they will be processed including informing nominees and allowing them to submit acceptance and bios until July 19; voting will run from July 23 through August 16 and the recipients will be announced on August. Pantheon of Leather is one of many events that will make up the International Leather Sir, Leatherboy and Community Bootblack weekend.

One Voice, One Journey - Stronger Together was the theme. The judges were Daddy Al Santora, boy collin, Daddy Raymond, Major Ty, Sir Adam and Pup Napoleon. International Leatherboy 2011 Nitro Hankinson was the emcee. The keynote speaker was International Ms Leather 2018 girl ang. Daddy Al Santora was presented the Joe Mastrapasqua Lifetime Achievement Award. Bamm Bamm hosted a Bootblack Fireside Chat. The winners will compete at ILSLb ICBB in Dallas, TX over Labor Day weekend.

Leather Contingent Marches in Cherry Grove, Fire Island Pride Parade

The 21st Annual Cherry Grove Pride Parade took place on June 22 and, has been traditional, included a Leather Contingent, marching with the Leather Pride banner. Participants were current titleholders Mr. Fire Island Leather 2019 Bruce Michael II and Mr. Fire Island Bear 2019 Eugene Guye, as well as past Messrs Fire Island Leather 2001 this writer and 2005 Joseph Saporito, and Dawn Cookler and John Tartamella.

Mr. Fire Island Bear 2019

Producer and coordinator Shane Tate presented the Fifth Annual Fire Island Bear Weekend, in Cherry Grove and the Pines, from June 6-9, and the centerpiece was the Mr. Fire Island Bear contest, at Cherry’s, on June 8, which was won by Eugene, who hails from Melbourne, Australia. Hosts were Ginger Snap and Mr. Fire Island Bear 2017 Danny Jimenez. Other events were a Beers and Bears Dance at Cherry’s, clothing-optional pool parties at Belvedere, in Cherry Grove and post-contest Brut party at the Ice Palace, with DJs Dan Darlington and Aaron Aanenson.

Mates Leather Weekend XXIII

Plans are underway for the 23rd Annual Mates Leather Weekend to be held in Provincetown, MA October 3-7. 500-600 people are expected to attend this four-day celebration of and for the Leather/Fetish community. Events include Boot Camp, Opening Reception, Uniforms and Cigars, Leather Market, First Mate Contest, Rubber Ball and the Infamous Fetish Party. Northeast Community Bootblack 2011 Jay Falcon will be on hand. MLW’s resident Buzz-cut barbers Danny Pantaleo and Billie Jean Beetam of SNIP Salon will be trimming at the Leather Market. Mates Leather Weekend has raised over $65,000 to date for the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod through event pass sales, raffle, and other donations. In addition, MLW holds a coat/clothes drive each year with donations going to Ruthie’s Boutique, a local non-profit thrift store. First Mate 2018 Dominic Donahue will host this year’s First Mate Contest. First Prize is $500 cash, a $100 gift card from Full Kit Gear and a two-night stay at Queen Vic Guest House. Peter Fiske - My Leather Life
Peter Fiske announces the release on July 10 of his book My Leather Life - early years 1958-1983 narrated by Thomas Peterson. BB Corps,(and my best friend of over 25 years) died in mid-June following a months-long battle against an intestinal Super Bug. Mike was an out-going, unique individual. He will be sorely missed.
