Southern California Leather Gathering

The Southern California Leather Gathering will be held at the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte, CA on Saturday June 16 from 11 AM to 4 PM. There will be games and clubs bring tents and hang out as groups. Regulars are Avatar, Threshold, LADS, Monarchs, LA Band of Brothers and a few other clubs. Event entry is $ 5 per person and park parking is $6per vehicle or $8 per RV. An event pin is $5 each. Pantheon of Leather adds and modifies awards

There will be a major change with the Pantheon of Leather Awards in 2019. There will be a Mx of the Year Award along with Man and Woman of the Year. This has been in the works for some time. Also, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be made into a single award, not Man and Woman. On top of that, something that has also been considered several years ago but never happened is that the Couple of the Year Award will be changed in name to be inclusive of relationships that involve more than two people. The formal announcement and clarification of this will be made on stage at Pantheon of Leather on Thursday night, August 30 during International Leather Sir, Leatherboy and Community Bootblack. Ms Los Angeles Leather sashed

Ms Los Angeles Leather 2018 in Panda who bested two other women, Cypher and Jocelyn, at the Sanctuary Studios LAX on Saturday night, June 2. A meet and greet was held on Friday night at Eagle 562 in Long Beach and a victory brunch was at Hunter and Charlies's on June 3. The emcees were Fifi LaFille and Jae Marie. The contest was produced by Ms Los Angeles Leather 2017 Scarlett. About 100 Leatherfolk attended the contest. They enthusiastically cheered when Scarlett announced that Ms LA Leather, Mr. LA Leather and LA Bootblack 2019 will be held on the same night and stage next March during LA Leather Pride. San Francisco Leather Cultural District - Victory Party Planned

The district-wide party to celebrate our victory and the creation of the Leather Cultural District will happen on Tuesday evening, June 12. The festivities will begin with a meet and greet at Mr. S. Leather at 6 PM. Expect some nice nibbles. At 7 PM we gather at The Stud for formal welcomes and a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony. From 8-9 PM, celebrants will disperse to all their favorite Leathertown venues, including the Lone Star Saloon, Powerhouse Bar, the Hole in the Wall Saloon, the Oasis, and several others, and each venue will be offering us their own style of welcome and refreshment. The SW Bootblack Boot Camp is planned for June 22-24 in Phoenix, AZ. When SW Community Bootblack 2015 Cherielle created the Arizona Bootblack Academy, using her formal apprenticeship program as a foundation, she set out to provide that which was lacking. The Arizona Bootblack Academy exists to provide a well rounded education in the art of bootblacking to all who express an interest in learning. Classes in technique are offered on a weekly basis, with field trips held occasionally. Oedipus Motorcycle Club 60th Anniversary

The Oedipus Motorcycle Club of Los Angeles celebrated their 60th Anniversary and the Coronation of Oedipus Rex LXXXV on Sunday afternoon, June 3 at the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries. Andre Rigden was crowned as president in the 85th such ceremony. The number is greater than the number of years of the club's existence because for many years the Coronation of Oedipus was a grand affair held twice per year. Delicious finger food and desserts were served outside in terrific weather. Several club artifacts were on display and a slide show included several of the Oedipus MC events. Urban Bear NYC - 10th Anniversary

Just south of the Chelsea district of New York, NY, May 17-20 was the Urban Bear NYC 10th Anniversary. A few thousand hairy, bearded men and their admirers, and some bears who admired each other, were part of Robert Valin's weekend which has also become popular with Leathermen.
