Flash Back Gallery - IML IMBB, Part II

There are so many photos of IML IMBB-related activities that we could not reasonably post them in two parts, so our International Mr. Leather and International Mr. Bootblack galleries will be expanded to three sections. We only can touch the surface of Leather's premier convention.

Scroll down to the Flash Back Gallery to see photos, from each year and a link to IML IMBB where you can find out more about IML IMBB which will be held in Chicago in November.

Payasos LA - Tutus and Heels

Tutus and Heels is a walk for the LGBTQ Youth of Camp Brave Trails produced by Payasos LA and the current Eagle LA Mr. Leather. This is a fun short mile walk in High Heel’s and Tutu’s in Silver Lake on Saturday, June 12 at 10 AM. The route includes Akbar on Sunset Blvd., Eagle LA on Santa Monica Blvd, and a big Payasos-style bash at Rough Trade Gear store on Sunset Blvd.

Why Walk and Why High Heels? Payasos LA is bringing the community together one step at a time, as they raise awareness and funds for important causes and charities, such as Camp Brave Trails. A short walk while flying the biggest freak flag one can muster is a great way to get others to support you in raising funds.

You will need to be registered to participate in the event and join Payasos LA at the After Party beer bust at Rough Trade. Register at

Flash Back Gallery - IML Part II - 1995 - 2005

We take you back through Chicago, International Mr. Leather and International Mr. Bootblack. Our photo files on IML are huge. There is too much we have to do it in two segments, so we are breaking he second part into two Flash Back Galleries.

Who can forget to nights numbers are drawn with the contestants making their first stage appearance parading their home country's flags, the Pecs and Personality, barbs from emcees such as Frank Nowicki and Lenny Broberg got fans through incredible times. In 1993, the International Bootblack contest was created by Harry Shattuck and really began to be taken seriously about five years later - even then it was a struggle.

Some 18,000 pass throughout the turnstile in the Leather Market over the entire Memorial Day Weekend which raises huge sums of money to support the Leather Archives and Museum The biggest store in Leather/BDSM/Fetish, club cocktail parties, the ONYX and San Francisco dances, the Leather Archives & Museum, Touche and Leather64TEN, puppy mosh and rubber/latex parties, unofficial play parties, great restaurants add to the City of Chicago in all of its splendor.

In 1995, IML and IMBB moved to the huge Hyatt Regency. This hotel was loved with its view of the Chicago River and perks of a world-class hotel and the Leather Market was in one huge hall. Close to 200 vendors had virtually everything one could imagine.

Several years later, to the delight of some and chagrin of others, IML returned the Congress Hotel on Michigan Avenue. Before that, the contest weekend was at the Hyatt Regency with stints at the Hilton and Marriott. The last three years, the contest has been held at the Auditorium which is across the street from the Congress. Now, here's IML IMBB, Part II.
