Leather at Long Beach Pride

Leather was visible at Long Beach Pride the weekend of May 18-19. About 50 Leatherfolk and kinksters marched in the parade on Sunday morning and a good number attended the Leather tent on Saturday and Sunday with New Horizons For Fifty/The Titleholder Club, Barking Billiards, ONYX, Avatar Club Los Angeles, LA Pup, Cellblock 13 and Nasty Kink Pigs hosting booths. The pups from Barking Billiards dropped by the New Horizons For Fifty/Titleholder Club booth to re-envision the famous "Dogs Playing Poker" painting. These friendly, frisky pups were all too happy to play along, and their good-natured, light-hearted take on this classic image caused many to...paws...and see who would win the hand. (We all did.) PIGS (Perverted Interracial Leather Guys hosted a beer bust at Eagle 562 following the parade and the bar was filed to capacity.
Jack Thompson is the first Trans POC to win IML title
International Mr. Leather 2019 is Jack Thompson from Baltimore, MD, first runner-up is Jawn Marques from San Francisco, CA and second runner-up is Fionn Scott from Dublin, Ireland; International Mr. Bootblack is Kriszly de Hond from Zaandam Noord, Holland, first runner-up is Geoff Millard from Baltimore, MD and second runner-up is Sparkie from Waukesha, WI. The two contests were held at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, IL over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-27 with the Congress Plaza Hotel playing host. Full story with lots of photos...
Pantheon of Leather nominations are now open
The schedule for the process of selecting the approximate 30 Pantheon of Leather Awards which will be held on Thursday, August 29 at the Crowne Plaza Market Square Dallas at 6:30 PM in Dallas, TX is set. Nominations are open June 1 and close on June 30; they will be processed including informing nominees and allowing them to submit acceptance and bios until midnight, July 19; voting will run from July 23 through August 16 and the recipients will be announced on August 29.

LA Pride Parade to be televised on ABC 7
Christopher Street West (CSW) announced this year's parade will include organizational and community grand marshals and be presented on television for the first time thanks to an exclusive three-year deal with KABC-TV. Phill Wilson will be the Community Grand Marshal and the Los Angeles LGBT Center will be the Organizational Grand Marshal for LA Pride 2019 on Sunday, June 9 from 11 AM to 1 PM.

Andrew was a former board member of FSE, and of our founding organization GMS/MA and associate member of the Chicago Hellfire Club. Southern California Leather Gathering
The 18th annual Southern California Leather Gathering (SCLG) is set to take place on Saturday June 15 at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte, California. SCLG is an annual outdoor picnic gathering open to ALL leather, BDSM, fetish, kink, motorcycle and bear individuals and/or groups of all genders and orientations. Southern California Leather Gathering is a “BYOF&B” (Bring Your Own Food and Beverages). Grills will be heated up and available for anyone wanting to grill. Take part in the Human Scavenger Hunt, water balloon toss, and the double-headed dildo toss. SCLG will be emceed by Mr. LA Leather Elliott Musgrave, Ms LA Leather Persefonie, and LA Boot Black Duke Ruff.
Panther LL disbands
It is with a heavy heart that the current Full Members of Panther L/L have made the decision that it is time for Panther L/L to commence with club dissolution. While we members individually still fully support our Community and its needs, we feel that, as an organization, we can go no further. We want to express the deepest possible thanks to everyone who has been a part of our club, either by membership or providing support, along the way. Panther L/L was founded on May 16, 1988 by Chuck McElyea, Bobby Dunning, and Danny Doss. Panther L/L has donated an estimated $300,000+ to charitable organizations. Panther L/L hung their colors in the Heretic and, finally, back at home at the Atlanta Eagle. During the past 31 years, the Panthers have supported and fostered many Leatherfolk who become regional and international titleholders and hosted events such as Prowl, A Nightmare on Ponce, and monthly bar nights at the Atlanta Eagle. The members of Panther L/L will be hosting a celebration in the coming weeks to retire the club’s colors and hang them in the Atlanta Eagle.

Bruce Michael the Second wins Mr. Fire Island Leather 2019 Title during Excelsior MC Weekend

New York City-based Excelsior Motorcycle Club held its 44th Lust for Life run, billed as “Battle for the Bulge,” in Cherry Grove, Fire Island, from May 17-19. Excelsior’s Bruce Michael II beat two other contenders, Jon Makay and Santiago Olevo, for the title of Mr. Fire Island Leather 2019 at the Ice Palace on May 18. Hosts were singer Porsche and Mr. FI Leather 2015 Edd Clark, also Excelsior President. Judges were past Messrs FI Leather 2001 (the First) this writer, 2007 Diego Vargas, 2012 Mark Nayden, 2013 Candido Soares, 2017, current Northeast [Puppy] Handler, and Excelsior Vice-President Sir Joseph, and 2018 CB Kirby and custom Leatherwear designer David Samuel Menkes. Serving as tally judge was Richard Kennedy. Clubs participating were Northeast Puppies and Handlers, Philadelphians, Boston Ducks, Bucks Motorcycle Club, Harbor Masters of Portland, Maine, Massachusetts’ Bay State Marauders, Atlantic Motorcycle Coordinating Council (AMCC), DC Bear Club, and Excelsior MC. On May 17, at the Ice Palace, Porsche and Mark Nayden hosted a tongue-in-cheek benefit Master and slave auction, which raised $1,700 for Cherry Grove’s volunteer Fire Department.

Mates Leather Weekend XXIII

Plans are underway for the 23rd Annual Mates Leather Weekend to be held in Provincetown MA October 3 - October 7. 500-600 people are expected to attend this four-day celebration of and for the Leather/Fetish community. Events include Boot Camp, Opening Reception, Uniforms and Cigars, Leather Market, First Mate Contest, Rubber Ball and the Infamous Fetish Party. Northeast Community Bootblack 2011 Jay Falcon will be on hand. MLW’s resident Buzz-cut barbers Danny Pantaleo and Billie Jean Beetam of SNIP Salon will be trimming at the Leather Market. Mates Leather Weekend has raised over $65,000 to date for the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod through event pass sales, raffle, and other donations. In addition, MLW holds a coat/clothes drive each year with donations going to Ruthie’s Boutique, a local non-profit thrift store. Puppy and Handler Play - all you need to know
The go-to web site for all things pup play, from the basics for newcomers to advice and opinions to inspire those with serious ambition. This is not meant to be taken literally or as a rule-book. This is designed to inspire pups to be the pup they want to become and find resources to help them reach where they want to go in the pup scene. Pup play is when one person takes on the role of a pup or handler. The pup acts like their canine counterpart and the trainer, for the most part, handles the pup like he would a biological puppy. Miss Cassie Rope Bondage Classes
Miss Cassie Rope Bondage Classes are held every Wednesday at the Lair de Sade in North Hollywood with the next few are June 5, 12, 19 and 26, and run 8-10 PM and are $10 per person. Highwaymen TNT Toast 41 Years

On Sunday, May 19th the Leather community gathered at the District Chophouse and Brewery in downtown Washington, DC to celebrate the 41st Anniversary of the Highwaymen TNT. The Highwaymen TNT club was founded in our Nation’s Capital in May of 1978 with eight founding members and a platform of diversity and fun. Some of the founding members had been members of other leather clubs but wanted to start a new club that was a better fit for them. Not wanting to identify as a motorcycle club (MC) as many of the Leather clubs had done, they called their club Highwaymen TNT with the “TNT” standing for trash and travel. Highwaymen TNT President Nelson Bennett presented awards including an award to ONYX Mid-Atlantic who were recognized for the continued support of the Highwaymen TNT and an Honorary Trash of the Year 2018 award to ONYX member Derrick Otter Starr. The Highwaymen TNT Member of the Year Award, the club’s highest honor, was presented to longtime club member Adrian Medina.
Touché opens Club Room - Leather Women's Cruise
Touché opens its Club Room at 8 PM on second Fridays with the next being June 14, for its monthly Leather Women's Cruise. Each month Touché lets Leather sisters gather for a bit of socializing and cruising before letting the boys take over the room.
