Palm Springs Leather Pride - Renegade
Richard Passmore was chosen Mr. Palm Springs Leather 2019 at the Palm Springs Air Museum on Saturday night, October 27 in front of about 650 Leatherfolk and kinksters. Passmore was tops among six men vying for the opportunity to compete at IML in May. First runner-up was Mark Heger and second runner-up was Charlie Mosquero. IML 1992 Lenny Broberg returned and was at the top of his game as emcee. The weekend included Friday, Saturday and Sunday pool parties at the Canyon Club, an Infernal Swap and Cruise Alley street fair at the Barracks on Friday and Saturday nights, a Tom of Finland Formal VIP Evening at the Palm Springs Air Museum on Friday night, A Gars and Gear Party at the Barracks on Saturday afternoon, an Atomic a Cockpit Leather Fetish Event at the Palm Springs Air Museum as well as a Victory Dance at the Barracks on Saturday night. There was a private hosted party at Jim Neuman's Casa Lola on Sunday afternoon. Passmore entered as Mr. Tool Shed 2019 and supports nonprofits, political activism, and education about Leather/sex-positivity.

Jeffrey Payne, a Democratic candidate in the Texas Primary of governor, has a live on line show titled Jeffrey Live which is worth a listen. Payne did not win his primary. It appears that he will be a force in Texas politics for years to come. Aside being someone who makes a great listen, Jeffery talks about the reality of the Texas and National mid-term election and how it was successful even though Beto O'Rourke narrowly lost to Ted Cruz. This video is long, but is worth seeing.

New Mexico Leather Bear and Leather cub
The winners, Mr. New Mexico Leather Bear 2019 Marvin and Mr. New Mexico Leather cub 2019 Oliver X , were selected by the judging team of Bear Tim, cub andy, Jacques Daniels, Mr. Jack Parton, and Jeremy “JereBear." Three Bears and three cubs competed. Daddy Mauro served as emcee and Renato entertained with several songs. The contest, held November 2-4, was hosted by the Albuquerque Leather Daddys. Friday included a meet and greet at Sidewinders followed by a private play party at The Club House. Saturday started with a Luncheon at Daddy Ruben and Rex’s home honoring judges, contestants, Dave Rhodes and the local Leather community with the contest at Sidewinders Bar. Rhodes was the guest speaker, telling of the first time he visited Albuquerque in 1989. The official weekend concluded with a luncheon at Daddy Mauro and boy Andy’s home with Women in Leather Legacy Gail as guest speaker. Three members were inducted on Saturday before the luncheon. The Hampton Inn was the host hotel.

Folsom Street Pioneer, “Drummer” Author and Photographer

Jim Stewart, 75, a veteran Folsom Street Leather pioneer, died of pneumonia after a fall on October 15, 2018, at his home in Ludington, Michigan, where he had retired. He was the author and cover model of the award-winning 2011 memoir, “Folsom Street Blues,” and a photographer for Drummer magazine. As a member of the SOMA Open Studio movement, he chronicled the creative kink epiphanies of the Folsom Street art scene with intimate friends he wrote about such as Tool Box bar founder Chuck Arnett, Oscar Streaker Robert Opel, poet Camille O’Grady, and Old Reliable Studio photographer David Hurles. I met him while he was managing a movie theater in the Midwest in 1973, and sponsored his move to San Francisco in 1975 where we worked together for many years. With his Nikon, he shot pictures for the Society for Individual Rights (SIR) and documented Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s “Running Fence.” He founded his Keyhole Studios in 1976. Beginning in 2013, he wrote the monthly “Leather History” column for the Bay Area Reporter. He is survived by his husband of 35 years, Kenneth Warner. Disambiguation: Jim Stewart is not Jim Stewart, the British founder of the Fetters bondage company.
Mr. Maryland Leather
The Mr. Maryland Leather 2019 Contest was won by Scorpius Red on Saturday night, November 3 at the Wind Up Space in Baltimore, MD. Contest producer COMMAND MC celebrated their 30th Anniversary with a reception. COMMAND's iconic play party, PigSty, was held on Thursday and Saturday nights. Almost $17,000 was raised for the charities COMMAND supports across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic. The Lord Baltimore was the host hotel.

The Los Angeles Leather Coalition recently elected its 2018-2019 Board of Directors. Chair Gus Norris, Vice-Chair Robert "Motorboot" Green, Secretary Apolonio "Señor Apple" E. Muñoz III, Treasurer Cypher with at large Board Members Ms Diana, Alan Stroik, David Cosio and Frank Cavallo who is new to the Board. There currently is a vacancy on the Board as Esteban Nuñez stepped down recently to take care of family. Los Angeles Leather Pride Week will be held March 24-31.
MAFIA Club Night
MAFIA's monthly Club Nights are held the first Friday of each month at Touche' Chicago, 6412 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL from 10 PM until 1 AM. The next two dates are December 7 and January 4.
