Mates Leather Weekend XXII

Fan-freakin-Tastic! The 22nd Annual Mates Leather Weekend has come to an end and the first results are in: 500-plus Leatherfolk were in attendance and $5,252 raised for AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod. Mr. First Mate 2018 is Dominic Donahue from Chelsea in New York, NY. The judges were First Mate 2016 and Mr. New England Leather 2017 Russell Sweeney, Mr. Providence Eagle 2018 Jesse Rosenburg and Mr. New England Leather 2018 Robert Birch. Mates Leather Weekend has raised over $66,000 for the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod since fundraising efforts began in 2002. Next is Snowbound in February. Click the mates link to find out more.
Tom of Finland Art and Culture Festival
The Tom of Finland Art and Culture Festival XXIII was held at the Tom of Finland House October 6-7 in Los Angeles, CA with about 750 attending various weekend events. The Festival celebrated the release of the book, My Gay Eye, focused on the purposeful commitment of collecting art, Art Fair, Live Drawing Sessions, Readings, Film Screening, Live Art Auction raised over $3,500 for the Foundation and an Awards Presentation. Awards went to Hector Silva – Artist Hall of Fame, Sheree Rose – Lifetime Achievement Award, Ron Athey – Cultural Icon and Slava Mogutin – Achievement Award.

Mr. Connecticut Leather

The Mr. Connecticut Leather contest was won by Mr. Sperry on September 8 at 16 York Street Café in New Haven, CT. The weekend started as a step aside celebration for the 2018 title holder, Pup Data. Mr. Connecticut Leather was emceed by Sir Robert Chandler. The judges were Mr. Connecticut Leather 2018 Pup Data, Ms NJ Leather 2017 Velvet Storm, Mr MAL 2018 Gerard Turner, Mr TCL Pup Buster, Mr. ASLSir 2018 George Hicks, ISCofallCT past Emperor Trevor Reynolds and True Colors director Robin McHalen. Connecticut Leather included bar nights, BDSM classes, a cigar social, and entertainment by the ISCofallCT. The Jason Scott Community Spirit Award was presented to Jim Maciel.
Buck’s Motorcycle Club - Santa Saturday
The 45th annual Santa Saturday will be held again at the Paradise, in Asbury Park, NJ on November 24. As in prior years, this year’s Santa Saturday will be a combination of an auction of donated items, entertainment by performers associated with the Bucks and the Paradise; service awards for worthy individuals; photos with the Bucks’ bear Santa Claus; a Leather shop; a 50-50 raffle; and refreshments and drinks. Santa Saturday originated in New Hope, Pennsylvania and is the the oldest and largest East Coast Leather charity event. The Buck’s Motorcycle Club has been hosting this charitable event for 40 years.

Los Angeles Leather Pride will present Big Queen Bingo at Hamburger Mary's Ontario on Thursday, October 18 at 7 PM. They did this in January and it was a blast. Iowa Leather Weekend XXX
10 men and women vied for four Iowa Leather titles at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott in Des Moines, Iowa the weeeknd of October 12-14 with the winners being Ms Iowa Leather Jinx, Mr. Iowa Leather Jason Ranschau, Mr. Iowa Bear 2019 Zach Gillette and Iowa Puppy Pup Yukie. Iowa Leather Weekend's 30th Anniversary included vendors, classes and workshops, socials and Bearracuda party. The Imperial Court Of Iowa held an Anita Bryant Pie Day fundraiser for One Iowa which was a blast.

Palm Springs Leather Pride - Next week
The Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert's Palm Springs Leather Pride: Renegade will be held October 25-28 - next week. Just shy of Halloween which is the Wednesday immediately after. The Parking Lot Party at the Barracks will be open Friday and Saturday and there are twice as many vendors. Palm Springs Leather Pride Chair/Media Director Randy Carmanaty said, "This past year we had a 30-percent increase in attendees over the year prior with attendees coming from 26 countries and all 50 states.

International Geared Pup 2019 Contest

The International Geared Pup 2019 Contest will be held on February 10. Unlike other contests currently being held in the Leather, rubber, kink, and fetish communities, International Geared Up Pup is held entirely online. There is no physical venue, which means that there are no travel limitations or expensive run packages to purchase. Any pup, worldwide, is truly capable of entering and participating in the contest. There were 10 contestants last year. The inaugural International Geared Pup titleholder is Alpha Pup Ashtray Boner Kain of Studio City, CA.

Leather Reign is also dramatically increasing its Service to socially vulnerable Leather people, and to strengthening Leather cultures. It's sponsoring six national and Pacific Northwest nonprofits through Leather List, a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves Leather people and cultures, and its groundbreaking site, leatherlist.org Leather Reign's sponsorships begin two months before Leather Reign weekend, and will continue for six weeks afterward, to December 31.

Kristopher Davis – from Washington, DC, and a member of the DC boys of Leather club – was named Atlantic States Leatherboy 2019, and Ryder Tidwell from Silver Spring, Maryland, who has only been bootblacking for a year, was named Atlantic States Leather Community Bootblack 2019 during Atlantic States Leather Weekend held September 28 and 29 at Grand Central nightclub in Baltimore, MD. There were no additional contestants and no contestants for the title of Atlantic States Leather Sir 2019. The nine judges were introduced by emcee Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2006 Bob Johnson. The panel included Sir Tom Matt, boy trell waters, boy john urso, Briar Wood, Ger’ard Turner, Nina Love, Jim Coleman, Raquel Phillips and Justin B. Terry-Smith.

DomCon: New Orleans was held October 4-7 at the Astor Crowne Plaza in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans. DomCon took over the streets of The French Quarter in New Orleans on Friday night, October 5 with a traditional Second Line Parade complete with a band and police escort. It was a celebration of the lives we've lost in our community this past year.. DomCon New Orleans offered the latest in fetish and bondage gear, classes in new BDSM techniques, discussions on community, legal, and relationship issues, and of course sizzling hot parties.

Albuquerque Leather Daddys
The Albuquerque Leather Daddys will hold their Leather Bear and Leather Cub Contest at Sidewinders Ranch and the Albuquerque Eagle Bar November 2-3. The judges are Jack Parton, Jacques Daniels, Jerebear, Tim Hickel and Andrew Walden-Montoya. Special guests are Dave Rhodes and Sir Jesse Segebartt. This event also occurs on Leather Daddys' Saturday Gear Night. The Daddys will be providing ASL interpreters. Leather Heart Foundation launches General Assistance Applications
Over the last year the Leather Heart Foundation (LHF) has gone through structural changes and reorganization internally to bring all of the fetish communities LHF serves a strong foundation for those facing financial hardships. LHF is the only non-profit group of its kind - by the community, for the community. Recently, LHF opened applications to the Disaster Relief Fund for individuals affected by the devastating wildfires and hurricanes. Today, LHF is announcing the reopening of regular applications for support due to financial hardship. Members of the various fetish communities including, but not limited to, the Leather/BDSMKink/Rubber communities may apply.
Rocky Mountain Leather Alliance education
The Rocky Mountain Leather Alliance holds educational classes on the second Saturday of each month in Denver, CO. The November 10 and December 8 classes begin at 2 PM. The RMLA advocates for an alliance of the regional Leather, kink, fetish, and BDSM communities thru outreach, social, and educational events. ONYX SoCal-Southwest
ONYX is an organization that supports ethnic and racial diversity in the gay Leather community. For over 22 years, the organization has been the bridge between Leather men of color and the broader Leather community. ONYX SoCal-Southwest has monthly meetings on the third Thursday of the month at the The Village at Gould Plaza in Hollywood, CA. The next is November 15 at 8 PM.
LDG Presents - Kinky Tech
The next SFLDG presentation will be on Wednesday, October 24 at 7:30 PM. Brian Bolt Donner will present Kinky Tech. Programs are every fourth Wednesday, with some exceptions. They vary from interview, to demo, to community panel discussion, and more. Attendance varies from 60-150 people. Occasionally a presenter may ask for audience participation, but its never required.
Mr. Regiment 2019 Leather
The Regiment of the Black and Tans present Mr. Regiment 2019 Leather, November 16-17 at Eagle LA. Eagle LA, 4219 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029. The winner will compete at Mr. Los Angeles Leather next March. Several Mr. Regiment titleholders have gone on to win Mr. LA Leather.
