Leather Archives and Museum names Matthew Steinbrecher as Guest Artist Gallery Curator

Leather Archives Mark Steinbrecher Portrait 300637 WebThe Leather Archives & Museum (LA&M) announced today that they have named Matthew Steinbrecher as Curator for the Guest Artist Gallery (GAG) at the museum.

The GAG features prominent and up and coming erotic artists. Previous artists include Justice Howard, Mary Chiodini, Philip Hitchcock, Lochai, John Randle and over a dozen other artists.

Rick Storer, Executive Director of the Leather Archives said "We look forward to his [Matthew Steinbrecher] background and knowledge of erotic art to bring new and different artistic experiences to the GAG Gallery."

 

 

Matthew Steinbrecher is a young curator based in Chicago. Apart from volunteering at the Leather Archives and Museum, he is co-director of project space Night Club in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood alongside artist Olivia Coran.  His writing has been published in the online publication Artwrit and will be published as part of a collaboration between PINUPS magazine founder Christopher Schulz and Chicago-based performance group ATOM-r. Prior to coming to the Leather Archives and Museum, Matthew held intern positions at Contemporary Art Daily, Chicago; the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice, Italy; the Society for Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago; and Shane Campbell Gallery, Chicago. He is currently pursuing a degree in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
