The Bare Chest Calendar and Team BCC exist for one purpose – to raise vital funds that support the missions of our beneficiaries, AIDS Emergency Fund and Positive Resource Center.

Over its 23 years of service, the AIDS Emergency Fund has distributed over $20,000,000 to landlords, utility companies and medical service providers on behalf of more than 25,000 clients, helping people living with HIV and AIDS avoid homelessness and maintain medical treatment. Payments are made quickly and anonymously, with a minimum of bureaucracy. AEF’s clients come from all neighborhoods in San Francisco and reflect the demographics and diversity of the AIDS pandemic. Although roughly half are referred by SF General Hospital, AEF maintains collaborating agreements with over 40 AIDS service providers across the City, including Positive Resource Center, Continuum, TARC, API Wellness Center, Mission Neighborhood Health Center and others. AEF serves about 2,500 clients and provides about $1,200,000 in emergency assistance per year.

Bare Chest Calendar CoverThe Positive Resource Center remains the only place for people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS to get comprehensive benefits counseling and employment services in San Francisco.

The organization has led the service community's response to the changes in the epidemic since its inception, and is regarded as the model program in the United States for agencies hoping to offer similar services. PRC was the first agency to assist people living with HIV/AIDS with comprehensive counseling for obtaining essential financial and medical benefits combined with a full spectrum of vocational rehabilitation and employment services. Furthermore, PRC provides training and technical assistance throughout California on complex benefits issues.
