TLJ-VT: Favorite Charity:
IMsL Contestant IrishGrrl: The Leather Heart Foundation provides financial assistance to anyone under the leather and fetish umbrella, in times of hardship. We have all experienced difficulties and uncertainty, that can take a real toll on our ability to keep our head above water. Knowing that my donations go directly to helping the members of our community when they need it most, and are completely private, makes me feel like I”m able to give back directly to those who have passed on so much to me, and enriched my life beyond measure.

TLJ-VT:Tell me in your own words how you feel about community service.
MsL Contestant IrishGrrl:Community service for me, is a wonderful opportunity to directly contribute to sustaining our sacred places, pass on the knowledge and skills I have acquired from others, and be a part of  creating our future. It takes a lot of work to maintain the the places where we can be ourselves, and have fun!  I feel a responsibility to to be a part of that in any way I can, as often as I am able, the goal being to try and give back more than I take.

TLJ-VT: What makes you a Leather Woman and/or Bootblack?
IMsL Contestant IrishGrrl: I am a Leather Woman because loyalty and family come first, because integrity is an action word, and lip service is not a service I provide. I speak my heart, and chase my dreams with a fire that cannot be quelled by even the harshest critic. I am a Leather Woman because I keep my word, and do my best to do the right thing, and when my best isn’t good enough and I fail, I keep trying.

TLJ-VT: Who is your favorite Leather Woman…Why?
IMsL Contestant IrishGrrl: My friend Olga. She embodies the spirit of generosity, joy, and kindness. She revels in pleasure, and teaches others how to do the same. There is something wild and free about her that is tempered with wisdom, I”m convinced she holds sacred knowledge, and she has made it her life's work to share what she knows with her sisters. I admire her a great deal.

TLJ-VT: What do you feel is the most dangerous mis-information passed through traditional & social media affecting our community today, and how would you combat it should the opportunity arise?
IMsL Contestant IrishGrrl: There is a prevalent school of thought that women cannot transmit STI’s to one another. I am still surprised when I hear it discussed or see it floating around on social media. Women to women STI’s are common, and several are easily transmitted. I talk to women frequently about STI’s, and get tested on a regular basis. Knowing your own status, and having the facts are an essential key to having fun and playing safe. You can read more about women to women STI’s here.

TLJ-VT: In 100 words or less what will you do as IMsL or IMsBB to promote your title?
IMsL Contestant IrishGrrl: I generally get to about 6 major events a year, and I’d like to expand that to include events and cities that I have not made it to yet and teach skill classes to anyone who wants to learn. I have a significant presence on several social media sites, and my blog where I have started to document my travels.

TLJ-VT: What do you say to those who feel that the Title system is outdated and no longer necessary?
IMsL Contestant IrishGrrl: I think necessary is relevant to who you ask. Title holders still raise a healthy amount of money for charities that directly benefit our community, they provide something fun to participate in for those that attend and work the event, as well as giving us all a place to shine and show our best selves, and we all deserve to shine.

About Author

Vonn Tramel has been a kinky "friday night femme" since she was 17.  She found the Leather community in 2007 and began her Leather Journey in 2008 after attending a Cigar Play Class in Long Beach, CA at Pistons Bar. A meeting with Dave Rhodes in May of 2008, changed her path for better or worse when she filmed and photographed the 2008 West Coast Olympus Contest, then International Olympus in Chicago that year....the rest they say is her-story.

Edit: In 2012 she was approached by Dave to join The Leather Journal as it's Webmaster with business partner Bryan Teague.
