After a weekend of grueling competition the dust settled in Dallas, Texas where Mark Eddy was named International Leather Sir 2014, boy Paul announced as International Leatherboy 2014 and Ed Davis chosen to be International Community Bootblack 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Market Center Hotel on Saturday night, August 31 in front of about 250 cheering Leatherfolk. Eddy and boy Paul were from the Great Lakes Region and Davis was from the Mid Atlantic Region.
The Leather Sir runner-up was James from Central Canada, Leatherboy runner-up was Matthew Mullins of the Southern California Region. Five men competed for Leather Sir, eight for Leatherboy and two for Community Bootblack.
Honors voted upon by the contestants were: Golden Brush for Bootblack contestant Gil Susy from Central Canada, Golden Paddle for Leatherboy contestants to Gizzmo from the Southwest Region and Golden Whip to Leather Sir contestant Mark Eddy.
The weekend of August 28 - September 1 saw plenty of activities at the host Crowne Plaza and the Dallas Eagle which was about two miles away. Shuttle buses schlepped guests to and from both locations for all official events.
The roast of the three stepping down titleholders at the Dallas Eagle on Thursday night, Leather Sir George Saltzman, Leatherboy Gator and Bootblack Paul William was down right rude and brutal - and the crowd ate it up. Emcees Thib Callin Guichard and Bamm Bamm just blasted away at Saltzman and Gator while Paul was mostly unscathed. Advice - do not get on the wrong side of Thib - he is as quick as they come and lots of emcee gigs are in his future.
Karen Ultradomme from St. Louis, Missouri served as the contest emcee while Sir Robert and Alex were the ASL interpreters.
The judges for ILSb were Master Mike Zuhl, International Leather Sir 2012 Jack Duke, International Leatherboy 2012 Bamm Bamm, Mr. Connecticut Leather 2013 KJ Nichols, Charter Member of Leather Knights Steve Waldren, Former President of Avatar Club Los Angeles Dr. Lawrence Burden and Mr. Spearhead 2013 Randy Boyd.
The judges for ICBB were Ms San Francisco Leather 1993 Queen Cougar, International Community Bootblack 2012 Ruin, International Community Bootblack 2012, International Leather Sir 2006 Randal Kinnear, International Leather Sir 2006, International Ms Leather 2009 Lamalani, Great Lakes Bootblack 2011 Gabriel Majors, Northeast Community Bootblack 2012 Jay Falcon and International Ms Bootblack 2013 bella.
The contest was held over two days, Friday and Saturday. There were plenty of fantasies and the contestants all gave speeches. The ICBB contestants. Did not perform fantasies.
There was a pool party at the Crowne Plaza's indoor pool on Friday that saw 25-30 attend Kinky Bingo followed immediately after. An impromptu pool party formed on Sunday after the Leather Lunch that saw at least 100. Although a handful of degrees cooler than normal for Labor Day Weekend in Dallas, the temperatures were in the mid 90
A play party was held at Dominion Dallas on Friday night.
A professional stage hypnotherapist, Brandon Matheson hosted HypnotiXXX on Saturday afternoon with some of the hot Leatherfolk being brought on stage. Under his powers, those on stage performed some compromising, but not illegal, acts. The show ended with an unchoreographed version of The Village People's YMCA. A fun time was had by all.
Some of the best barbecued beef, pork, chicken and sausage that Texas has to offer was served buffet-style at the Dallas Eagle on early Sunday afternoon. Not a lot of stage other than introducing the new titleholders, there was plenty of time for socializing and the barbecue was great.
Parties continued at the Dallas Eagle into the late evening. Many went out to dinner with friends who had vehicles. The only place within reasonable walking distance of the hotel was a Jack in the Box which closed to foot traffic early. Inexpensive late-hour food options at the host hotel would be a godsend.
ILSb ICBB is operated by a board of directors that includes President Jeffrey Payne, Secretary David Roy, Treasurer Sir Wayne, and at-large members Dr. Lawrence Burden and Brandon Matheson.

The Leather Journal was founded in May, 1987. The Leather community was hungry for news magazine that covered clubs, organizations and events. TLJ has successfully met that need for 34 years. We have adapted to change more than once and when the Internet came about we were there by adding www.TheLeatherJournal.com
