OB: Service is all about giving back to the Community that has helped you grow and become the Leatherperson you are today.

VT-TLJ: What makes you a Leather Man or Woman and/or Bootblack?

OB: I enjoy the look and feel of Leather, the social and sexual activities associated with it, as well as the traditions of Honor, Respect, and Discipline that go with it.

VT-TLJ: Who is your favorite Olympus Title Holder and in 100 words or less…Why?

OB: Without a doubt, Angela Albert, Ms. Olympus Leather 2007, who, sadly, passed away this year.  I always admired Angela's calm and composed demeanor, as well as her warm charm and wit.

VT-TLJ: What do you feel is the most dangerous mis-information passed through traditional & social media affecting our community today, and how would you combat it should the opportunity arise?

OB: Mainstream media has often focused on the violent and dark aspects of non-consensual Leather/BDSM activities, without presenting concepts such as Safe, Sane & Consensual or Risk Aware Consensual Kink.  Education is the key here.  Whenever I can, I always strive to show the pleasure and satisfaction that can had from various Leather/BDSM activities when they are done in a safe, informed and respectful way.

VT-TLJ:What makes you feel you can represent the Olympus Leather Community, even the folks who you may not identify with?

OB: As stated in the International Olympus Statement of Purpose:  "The Leather community is comprised of an extremely diverse group of people ranging from the motorcycle and Leather/Levi clubs to the heaviest SM edge player and all of the Leatherfolk in between.  (Our goal is) to make all those who wish to be a part of the Leather community feel welcome in doing so."  I am a firm believer in this Principle, and committed to live by it and share it whenever I can, regardless of whether I win the International Olympus Title or not.

VT-TLJ:  What makes you most nervous about becoming International Ms or Mr. Olympus Leather?

OB: If anything makes me nervous about becoming International Mr. Olympus Leather, it would be living up to the example set by my predecessors.  I am excited about the possibility of winning the Title and look forward to meeting many new friends.

sin in the city southwest olympus logoPB: Sin in the City is an official sponsor and travel fundraiser of Mr. SouthWest Olympus Leather 2014. I have served as SiTC’s Technical Engineer for the past two years and look forward to more work and fun with them February 27 – March 2, 2015.

VT-TLJ: Tell me about your favorite charity.

PB: The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada (“The Center”), here in Las Vegas is an amazing resource for all aspects of our community. The Center supports and promotes activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the LGBTQ community and its allies in Southern Nevada. From HIV and STI testing, to education and employment resources for those in need, to a community recreation center for young LGBTQ, to community meeting space and even to an extensive library, all of the services provided by The Center benefit our community greatly as a whole.

VT-TLJ: Tell me in your own words how you feel about service.

PB: Service to community is a guiding principle in my life. I truly believe that we can only keep what we have by giving it away; what better way to give it away than by helping out in our home: in our community? Regardless of role or identification, I believe EVERY person in a community should be looking at how they can serve and give back.

VT-TLJ: What makes you a Leather Man or Woman and/or Bootblack?

PB: I am a Leather Man because that is my path. Leather’s core values of honor, integrity, honesty, respect, doing the right thing, and community service are principles that guide my daily life. This is who I am at root: leather will forever be a part of me.

VT-TLJ: Who is your favorite Olympus Title Holder and in 100 words or less…Why?

PB: How cruel to ask this when I have two current International Olympus Leather titleholders on the judging panel at IOL this year! While I greatly appreciate both Praxxis and Robyn, I’d have to say that Mr. Andrew Love immediately comes to mind as one of my favorite Olympus Titleholders through the history of the contest. He has used his title to help further the education and activities in his home community of Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as to reach out and educate far beyond his local city or state.

VT-TLJ: What do you feel is the most dangerous mis-information passed through traditional & social media affecting our community today, and how would you combat it should the opportunity arise?

PB: Even with more mainstream media exposure, there is a dearth of accurate information about what it is that we do that actually being distributed to the public at large. This leaves our community constantly engaged in a battle against the misconception that the practice of BDSM and/or power imbalanced or authority transferred relationships is abusive and unhealthy. I feel that the best way to combat these misapprehensions is via transparency and open communication (education). The more that people are allowed to see our healthy lives, the more they can understand at least something about how we live, the less they have to misunderstand. Using the S.S.C. platform as the catchphrase it was created to be for those outside of our way of life and practicing R.A.C.K. in our interactions with each other can only help to manage the flow of misinformation.

VT-TLJ: What makes you feel you can represent the Olympus Leather Community, even the folks who you may not identify with?

PB: The Olympus title celebrates those people who can transcend roles and identifications to find the common ground between all members of our vast and diverse Leather community and present a positive Leather image. I believe myself to be a Leather Man of integrity and honor, and have yet to find someone who has chosen this way of life with whom I did not share some amount of common ground. I find the free-exchange of ideas that comes from diversity in experience exceedingly valuable.  I do not believe that I need to be a carbon copy of an individual or group to represent them; instead, I need to be a skilled listener. How can I represent aspects of the Olympus Leather Community who I may not identify with? By taking the time to create the bonds of fellowship and by being humble enough to learn where it is that they are coming from.

VT-TLJ: What makes you most nervous about becoming International Ms or Mr. Olympus Leather?

PB: I find myself a bit nervous about all that I’m going to miss in the time I’ll spend away from my home community. I know, however, that the Las Vegas and the SouthWest communities will be in good hands while I’m traveling on a larger scale.

VT-TLJ: 100 words about what you will do as International Olympus Leather:

If I am selected to represent as International Mr. Olympus Leather 2014, I will use the opportunity to employ education as a means of bringing together all of the diverse aspects of our community. Community education is my greatest passion, and I believe that educational opportunities are often overlooked as the valuable bonding tool they can represent. I look forward to maintaining a presenting a positive leather image through education and fellowshipping at as many events across the globe as I can possibly attend.

SouthWest Olympus Leather 2014

It’s been another great weekend at “Sin In The City” in Las Vegas, NV home of the 2014 Southwest Olympus Contest.

This year’s judges were Ms. San Diego Leather 2004 Karen Yew (head judge), Mr. International Olympus Leather 2008 Andrew Love, Dr. Lawrence Burden (Dr. Larry), Master Trish, International Ms Leather Sarha Shaubach and the Tally Master was T.C.

Tawdri Hipburn Emcee SW Olympus Leather 2014 ContestThere was awesome entertainment on stage from Emcee Tawdri Hipburn, who fully enjoyed messing with the ASL translators, especially Gabriel who played along like a champ.  Mr. Nude Vegas 2014 was very nice to look at and made a fair share of the audience hot with his presence and performance.  Sable Bleu is one of the best drag performers I’ve seen in a while, she did her own sexy version of ‘Locomotion,' her strip tease was very nice as well.  Of course, you can’t truly be in Vegas if you don’t see an Elvis impersonator; we got Electric Elvis on stage both nights of the weekend.

Each contestant had to auction off their own baskets and they all did very well getting the numbers up.

Saturday night during the contest “Sin” did not disappoint. Last year we had fun auctioning the clothing off of Wayne Brawner, Andrew Love and Master Conraad with all proceeds going to a local charity, nearly $2,000 was raised.  This year on top of auctioning off people for scenes, we again had folks up on stage willing to take off their clothes for charity.  For everyone $100 a piece of clothing had to come off everyone on stage.  Those willing to bear it all in the name of ‘The Center’, a new LGBTQ Center were once again Andrew Love and Master Conraad being accompanied by International Ms Leather Sarha, Ms Sanctuary Leather Shae Flannigan, Stormy & Nicole, Q, and Dolly.

All the fundraising was tremendously successful totals were……..$1586 title holder travel fund
and $4895 raised for The Center.

Now back to the contest J

Contestant #1 ~ Steven (sorry folks no photos allowed)

Pop Question - If you were a poker hand, which one and why?
Answer - The winning one

Speech – He met some great people this weekend and encourages others who want to run for this title to do it because you can meet others, make friends and have a great experience.

Fantasy – We were lead through a guy getting beaten up and hanged, then a group of women coming to his rescue and reviving him to then turn on those that had attacked him to begin with.

Contestant #2 - Papa Bear

Pop Question - Penn Gillette, Carrot Top or David Copperfield, favorite kinky fantasy and why?
Answer: He chose Penn Gillette because of his humor, how smart he is and because he's so funny.

Speech – He made us think. He opened with a quote, if not you, then who. He told us of a conversation he was having with someone in the area regarding education and listing those that could teach.  He wasn’t even to the 4th name before he was asked, “if not you, then who”.  Papa Bear reminded us that we need to lead the charge in the change(s) we want to see and closed with the quote, “we can only keep what we have by giving it away”.

Fantasy – Papa Bear led us through the fantasy, I’m sure more than a few have had, of what we’d of liked to see Mr. Cleaver do the lil Mrs. after a long day at the office.  The well received fantasy offered an opportunity for an impromptu fundraising opportunity; after Papa Bear's fantasy ended, the pie he used in the scene and the removal of his bottom’s bra went on the auction block and brought in an impressive $160.

southwest-olympus-2014-contestant-mr-darkContestant #3 - Mr. Dark

Pop Question - If you were a zoo animal, which one and why
Answer: He chose the horse for it's large 'member' (changed his word there), because they're strong so they can haul stuff, are smart and who wouldn't want to be a horse.

Speech – He thanked those that have helped him on his Leather journey and reminded us to pay it forward by helping others.

Fantasy – We were shown what happens to naughty slaves who don’t give Master the right drink and how they should properly serve.

Great job by all 3 contestants!!!!

Great Lakes Olympus Leather 2014 Sir Bear Abbott. Photo by Ruff EstesOn November 8-9, the Great Lakes Mr. Olympus Leather 2014 title went to Sir Bear Abbott and Great Lakes Power Exchange Couple 2014 titles went to Sir Harold and Linda.

As the crowd filled the Indy 501 Eagle, for the Meet and Greet, on Friday night, one could feel the energy for the coming contest building.

On Saturday, afternoon, were the Interviews. The judges, Praxis, Lady Elsa, Jules, slave aaron, tracy, Walt, and everyone’s favorite little bug, cricket were ready to judge the one’s standing before them! The competitors were Mr Bear, Sir Harold and Linda.

On Saturday evening the contest started on time, at 10:30 PM at the 501 Eagle which was packed to capacity. The hysterical antics of the emcees, boi kris and Robyn, kept the contest on moving. Baskets were held for auction to provide the winners their own Travel Fund.

After the speeches and the fantasies played out, it was time for the judges to decide if the competitors had reached their 70 percent minimum to move on. It was Ms Kendra and boy john’s pleasure to announce that all competitors achieved more than 80 percent.

Great Lakes Olympus Leather and Power Exchange were produced by Ms Kendra and boy john.
