Milestones

The Wasatch Leathermen MC of Salt Lake City bought their own clubhouse. SMALERS/Tri-State held a benefit for those arrested in a police raid in 1987. Cheaters MC announced plans for their first bike run in Northern California.

The Los Angeles chapter of the Janus Society broke away from their San Francisco counterpart and became The Threshold Society. Leather Weekend '88 was held in Guerneville that drew about 200 Leatherfolk. NLA: Seattle held a successful May Day celebration with people from all over the West Coast attending. The Rocky Mountaineers MC purchased 41.4 acres of mountain property near Fairplay, CO to host their summer runs and other community events.

The National Leather Association's Living In Leather III was held in Seattle, WA. Gayle Rubin and Alan Selby were given the NLA's Lifetime Achievement Awards. The Leather Journal sponsored entertainer Lynn Lavner for the convention.

The Chicago Hellfire Club started holding monthly Sandmutopia University nights at Touche'. A third organization, COSMOS, for those not happy with either the National Leather Association or Safe, Sane, Consensual Adults announced an organizational meeting to be held in Chicago.
