There are five chapters with one in each in Southern California (the Mother chapter), as well as in Arizona (Centennial Chapter), Washington State (Evergreen Chapter), Canada and Louisiana (Lagniappe Chapter).
On January 11 history was made at the Rawhide 2010 Bar in New Orleans, Louisiana as the first Mr. Big Easy Leather contest was held with Adikus Sulpizi winning the title.
Earlier this year the resurrection of a club which has had 40 years of rich history in this region, the Knights d'Orleans, were revived. The Knights had become inactive since Hurricane Katrina and through the combined work of Danny Alford, Bill Naquin, and Alan Bowers, this Leather group is now not only alive and thriving, but it has produced its first contest.
The judges chose from a field of four contestants in a packed house. The judges were Mr. Texas Leather 2013 Gabe Sims, Ms New Jersey 2014 Nikki Weirman, Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2013 Justin Emerick, Mr. Heartland Leather 2014 Michael "PupRyker" Kaplan and Louisiana Leather 2005 Dr. Alan Bowers.
Adikus will compete at International Mr. Leather 2014 in Chicago during Memorial Day weekend in May. New Orleans has had a proud tradition with its representatives at IML and this new title is expected to carry that into the future.
